That's not why. Every election exit polls are released.
However, the question is when. I don't think they officially release until after polls close...but usually information starts leaking earlier. I have no idea if the fact that there hasn't been any/many leaks is uncommon or not.

They were talking about this in O'Reilly the other day.
At 5pm or 7 pm or whenever the exit poll people go into the place where all of the reporters for each station are camped out and give them the exit poll results.
Then the reporters put their spin on it and put it in air.
