Also have to factor in the guys throwing in the 7th and 8th. Shitty bullpen won't even allow the closer to come in.

Saves are such a crap shoot. It's all about opportunity. I try to get one established guy and then move on. I don't like keeping closers either unless my pitching is weak or it's a bonna-fide stud.

I predict there will be 10 or so Relief Pitchers that will be picked up off waivers more valuable than Vizcaino this year.
Vizcaino has a pretty solid chance of blowing up and becoming waiver fodder himself, in my opinion... His upside is limited on the braves and I think his risk factor is pretty huge given his limited MLB experience and propensity to walk people...
He might end up a decent relief pitcher which I don't really value....
Soler is just another cuban that got hyped too much... I don't doubt that he could be really good but I'm not willing to pay as much as the average person for that possibility... especially after an uninspiring season last year and a lineup that keeps getting more and more crowded

I like Soler, but he's still trying to figure out MLB pitching. He's one of the few power guys that will take a walk, but he seems to be going for Sport Center highlights at the plate. A bunch of young players seem to abandon their patience once they get under the bright lights. Hopefully he settles down an plays his like he's capable of doing. I agree that most of the talent from the islands tends to be hackers that never heard of a walk.

Soler needs another year before we can write him off as a bust. Look how long it took Cespedes to break out. He had a few decent years before exploding last year.
Posted on 3/2/16 at 3:16 pm to Chatagnier
And I believe Cespedes was a few years older. I could be mistaken.
Posted on 3/2/16 at 3:20 pm to EarlyBird
Yea he was 25 or so when he came in.

yep
Cespedes was 26 and was a 75/20/80 player from the onset. Last year was a career year, too. He won't match those numbers again
Soler is only 23 and is at 50/15/67/.758 through 125 career games (162 game avg of 65/19/87). He was the 4th youngest player in the NL last season. Playoffs speak for the potential

How much pt is Soler gonna get in that outfield? Are the Cubs gonna trade him?
Posted on 3/2/16 at 3:56 pm to Gtothemoney
You got interleague and Schwarber is going to catch ~40 games
Then you got NL left handed starters
Bumgarner
Kershaw
Wood
Gio
Anderson
kazmir
chen
matz
oberholtzer
de la rosa
rusin
corbin
ray
banuelos
locke (division)
finnegan (division)
lamb (division)
descalfini (division)
gonzalez (division)
garcia (division)
liriano (division)
niese (division)
just off the top of my head

Cubs have had preliminary talks with several teams including Rays and DBacks. They are looking for a young pitcher. Madden stated Soler will get 10-12 at bats a week in a crowded outfield. Schwarber will play OF, C, and back up at 1B and get 20-25 at bats a week. Moving Coghlan helped Soler.

Crazy that the braves are gonna be playing all-time scrubs like Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher who have no business being in the big leagues... meanwhile the cubs/dodgers/cardinals/etc. have guys like Soler who could potentially be the centerpiece of the braves lineup but he'll have trouble getting consistent everyday PT
