I think the resolution is 1440x2560

Try this. FYI - increasing resolution is where you lose quite a bit of clarity. Only vectors I believe can be stretched the way you wanted.
If you have the original larger sized image, post it.

Try to upload it as your wallpaper and see how it looks.
I read up on it and apparently

That works for the wallpaper but not the lock screen. Still makes you crop it.
