My dad taught me to cook. My Cajun dishes and grilled stuff are about = to his. I cook a lot of dishes that he never tried. The one thing he made better than me is drop biscuits. I tried and eventually gave up. I can't get the same taste and texture I remember about his biscuits.

If anyone has a good recipe, post it here and I'll try again.

I learned how to cook first from my "adopted" grandmother. My real grandmother made hamburgers that looked like meatballs. I kept cooking as a defense mechanism cause my mom, RIP, would literally serve the most disgusting tasting food known to man.
I can cook better, more variety, than Mo-Mo but i cant get my food to taste like hers, which is really frustrating.

Overall, yes, simply because I cook many more styles than they did and I had to self-teach those and learn the techniques on my own, so they simply can't.

However, when my grandmother was still with us, she could take a rock and turn it into gumbo you'd fight other people to the death for.

I'll never manage that.

I may never be as good as my dad but I surpassed my mom a long time a go. My biggest downfall is putting an entire meal together, mainly the sides are what are difficult for me to meld with the main course

When I was 5 years old I made a Mayonese Sammich. That surpassed anything my mom ever cooked in her life.

I learned how to cook from watching my mom. I don't know anyone that cooks as well as she does. Some things (like catfish courtbillion and crawfish etouffee) I don't care for, but for those that like it, she gets high praise.
I spend alot of time in New York with Italians and they teach me how to cook Italian. This I do better than her.

Learned to cook from a few people.

Both grandmas, Grandmas maid aned my Mom.

Not sure if I am better than any of them, but I am much more diverse in what I cook.

Stop eating meat, and you'll start cooking with plenty of fresh ingredients

no piece of meat alive can beat my Dads ribeeyes cooked over charcoal...slower than you would ever dream of cooking it. Would make a steakhouse chef cry, but damn tasty.

My Grandma on my Moms side still has the best mac and cheese, fried chicken, and pimento cheese ever made.

Overall I think I am much more versatile and probably nail the seasonings better. My parents have taken to oversalting everything.

Nothing beats my dad's chicken and sausage gumbo. He makes the darkest dry roux and it cooks all day long.

I could never top his level of skill

As we age, we're supposed to cut back on meat consumption. It's just incredibly hard to cut it out all together.

It is incredibly hard, but even after a short amount of time, if you are eating right, you will feel so good.
