Then she is thinking about this in the wrong manner...there are no quick fixes without future consequences.

Actually there is. You are depriving your body of it's most essetial fuel carbs. This is also hard on your kidneys and liver to process all this excess protein b/c your body is not using it. In the long run it will only make weight problems worse or even create them if they do not presently exist.

I did a no carb diet for 5 days at the end of a cutting cycle once. First 2 days were fine, the last 3 days I felt like arse. I was tired all day, my workouts were crap...I'll never do it again.

I can play this shite all day with you, but I won't. I know what I'm talking about. It's not healthy and it's too much of a strain on your body and your organs. It's not worth it in the long run.

Bottom line you need a balanced diet if you want to do it right. End of story.

Yup. There are no short cuts.

But hey, it's not up to us to tell someone what to do with their body.

+100000000000

Cutting out any food group all together is incredibly unhealthy and can hurt your body in the long run. If you want to cut something completely out, focus on trans and saturated fats (but not fat all together).

FWIW:

There is nothing magical about the Aktins diet. It isn't what you eat, just how many calories of it you eat. NOTHING else matters.

And you aren't designed to process primarily protein as an energy source:

-Such diets put a considerable strain on the kidneys as the metabolism of protein for energy results in toxic byproducts. Also, your calcium levels will drop considerably as part of the secretion process, possibly leading to bone loss. Kidney stones also are prevalent among those who do high protein/low carb diets, and I have heard of some cases of kidney failure.

-Because "fats burn in carbohydrate's fire," you are limiting your body's ability to effectively process the fat. While it still can do it by converting the protein into sugar, nonetheless those who consume carbs tend to have a lower body mass index than those who dont.

-Depending on the extremes taken, a low carb diet really racks up the ketone levels in the blood. While it don't get to the point of causing the damage it does to diabetics, it can get to the point of causing metabolic and emotional disruptions.

-The weight loss boost you typically see from the Atkins diet is the consumption of glycogen (intermediate energy storage that your body feeds upon between meals) in your liver, combined with the loss of water from the need to secrete the toxic metabolites, and the water needed to metabolize protein.

Okay. Everyone CALM down. First of all, I am not overweight. I have a BMI of 23. All I want to do is try this diet for approximately 12 days then work some of the carbs back in. I eat pretty much nothing but carbs; I'm not much of a meat eater and this will help me work on changing some eating habits. It's an experimental thing. I currently count calories which maintains my weight, and due to inability to do hard core exercise, I have hit a minor plateau and am looking to lose those last few pounds to get me into the 130s.

You want to just get healthy and get into shape? Try the Body for Life program. That may be something that'll interest you.

I know people hate counting calories but its preferred way to losing weight. I don't couting them myself which is why I decided to do the abs diet. It puts you on a 1500-1800 calorie diet and you will see results

No it's not. Bring it with you. Bring protein bars with you or Meal Replacement shakes. Believe it or not, there are some that taste good. It all comes down to how bad you want it. If you want it bad enough, you'll do it.
