Friend,

We were sad to hear last night that Blue Dot is closing. It was an easy walk for us to get their donuts.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

So that is the reason Laozi is shutting down.

Same with the Baton Rouge location.

The new Shipley locations are nowhere near what they were when I was a kid. Just average now

Best donut I ever had was a glazed beignet from Mr. B's in Algiers.

Eater writeup-
quote:

Mr. B’s Bakery — not to be confused with Mr. B’s Bistro — is a West Bank staple, beloved for two things, primarily — affordable, classic breakfasts, and piping hot glazed beignets. These bad boys are fried and glazed to order, causing many to name them the best glazed beignet in town (Antoine’s Bakery is another favorite for the specialty, but doesn’t always have them).

Saw the news yesterday that Blue Dot is shutting down next week. Shed a damn tear. They are my favorite. Now I must seek a replacement.

Passed Blue Dot heading to the supermarket at 9:30 this morning and they had a "Sold Out" sign outside the door so they must be doing something right.

Their donuts are good but I love the honeybuns.
Best I’ve ever had.

The wife went to Blue Dot earlier today and she said she saw on Facebook that they are closing down soon.

Not sure if they are going to change locations or shutting down for good. I can't imagine what their overhead is by being located on Canal St. in Mid-City, but it's got to be pretty $$$$ every month for rent alone.

Went on-line and checked. Blue Dot is closing on Aug. 29th and not reopening as the owner is moving into another business venture.

Agreed, I love Shipley's around Htown, do not enjoy the BR location's donuts, very dry. Strange.
