Had a pour of this over the weekend. It tasted like cream soda. I can pour some cheap tequila in my A&W for a lot cheaper.
I expect better from you, sir.
I will say that I am very bias. At my wedding, we had a table set up with a sign at the entrance that said take a shot & take a seat. The table was covered with shot glasses and bottles of Clase Azul Reposado. This was 5+ years ago and Clase Azul Repo wasn't even the cool thing to drink yet. It was just so fricken delicious.
I could write 5k words about tequila. Tequila is like rum, but more expensive. And more annoying. Totally different than whiskey. 99% of rum and tequila is 80 proof. At that point, who cares?! Drink what you like and think tastes good and don't talk shite about whatever else. I'm calling out BMoney to mess with him a little, but he's the best kind of people.
My point is the anti-additive people. It's amazing. I'll get fired up and rant like a crazy person, if we're talking about whiskey. But, no spirit is distilled to 80 proof. 99% of tequila is bottled at 80 proof. 80 proof vs 80 proof, drink what's delicious. Literally all of the best selling tequilas are tequilas judged for additives. Casamigos, 818, Clase Azul and 1942 are the four best selling premium tequilas. All have additives. All are delicious.
If you have a drinking problem, like I judge myself as having, or are someone wanting non-additive tequila, Forteleza Still Strength (92 proof) and (if in Texas) G4 barrel picks at Spec's (90 proof) are worth standing in line for.
You rum people, find some Smith & Cross Navy Strength and make a poor decision.
**Side note: I live in Baton Rouge and got married in Vermont (beer is love) and there were like 50 people at my wedding and so a table of tequila at the entrance wasn't really that big of a deal, before I get blasted maybe.**

And grossly over priced… that’s my whole thing. They taste fine, but I can get something way better for $50-60

Don Julio and Fortaleza for me.
If we're talking bang for your buck/budget tequila, I'd go with El Jimador.

Anybody ever tried Exotico ?

It’s clear you buy hype. As the other poster states, it is not bad tequila; however, it’s most certainly not the best nor worth its silly price tag. Fortaleza is better and it is $50.
If you want to keep dropping $120 on a pretty bottle that’s well marketed and cool to own, you do you.

Since tequila has become "the spirit" these days, I've been trying to dig in as I like a good tequila drink. I follow a fella on YouTube and Instagram, Lui Fernandes. He's opened my eyes to the brands I didn't know about, and also the website Tequila Match Maker that will give you reviews and all that good stuff.
I'm not on a sipping level yet, I like a good tequila soda, sue me
. I love bourbon too, and been drinking that way longer, but I still can't drink it neat.

I don’t disagree. These are all hype tequilas. They would be more compared to Eagle Rare, Blanton’s or Buffalo Trace, than tequila at this point. These are all like Superior Margaritas. “We’re just going to keep raising the price and not care, until people stop paying for it.” Lol.
At my wedding, five years ago, I paid I think like $75/bottle for the Clase Azul Reposado. Hype has made it a different world for a lot of spirits.
A lot of people’s comments just come off to me like they’re comparing these tequilas and their additives to the likes of cinnamon in fireball and banana in Bumbu. I just think if it’s still 80 or above proof, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter really. Just matters what you prefer taste wise. And at that point, there’s been a ton of great suggestions for many different and unique tequilas in this thread, with or without “additives.”

Thanks for the list. I'll be on the look out for these next time I'm out. I've found I like the reposado more than anything else. The anejo just doesn't work for me.

Tapatio and Centenario have become our "well" tequilas. Both priced right and very tasty.
Blanco in both. We generally drink mezcal, but I’ve started enjoying tequilas more and more.

Kirkland brand is quality.
I've been black-out drunk on it numerous times and had zero hangover the next day.

Grabbed a bottle of Lalo at total wine today
It is very nice
Sips more like a reposado than a blanco.
