Sounds like you’re the one who screwed up by deciding to eat there in the first place

Do they boil seafood at that place? Why not steam it? DK, never been poor enough to go to Red Lobster (as a treat, I’ve definitely been poor enough to eat it…I just chose not to).

When my now 41 yr. old stepson graduated from Jesuit I told him he could pick a restaurant and it would be my treat for the party of around 10 people who were in our group.

He picked Red Lobster, of all the great places to eat in the N.O. area. He thought that was the best place in the world, so that just goes to show you how totally unsophisticated he and his taste buds were at that stage in his life.

Guess it could have been worse, as in $$$$ if he'd have picked Antoine's, Ruth's Chris or Commander's Palace. I got off light.

When it comes to lobster, does their lobster really taste any different than any other place that serves lobster? They all do the same thing, right? It seems like RL just buys in bulk to get lower prices.

You can get a fresher lobster in Maine, and it will taste better. That said, I haven't been to Red Lobster in many, many years. There was a time when they had a nice selection of fish, and it wasn't bad. That time is long gone.

I don’t think they really boil seafood at red lobster.

I don’t think their food is bad for what it is.

Apparently seafood boils are part of their “reboot”.

They want to be a Juicy Crab with better biscuits

I was getting ready to say that there are all kinds of ways you can screw up a seafood boil, then when I read the post, I saw that you were talking about Red Lobster. Red Lobster should not be mentioned in the same breath as a good Louisiana seafood boil.

We had a gift card there several years ago. We got cocktails and biscuits at the bar.

Then the bartender comped our drinks because there were some super obnoxious drunks sitting beside us, so she got the majority of the balance of the gift card.
