I ate Waffle House last Saturday afternoon. I got a patty melt with bacon. It was delicious. I didn't notice anything unusual about the bacon.
Exactly what I order when I go. Love it.

2 BLT’s and covered smothered hash browns.

Maybe the bacon they were getting before cooked too fast?
Don't they keep 20 pounds of crispy bacon already cooked and ready to go by the griddles?
Not really a timing issue I don't think.

Lasr time I ate at Waffle House 15 years ago for lunch, the hamburger meat tasted spoiled.
Kinda turned me off of them. I need to go back again. Love their hash browns. Maybe stay away from the burgers.
We just have 50 other very good mom and pop breakfast places around here.

That's exactly what they do during rushes. When they are slower, it is cooked to order.

My young son is a cheeseburger connoisseur, for real. He gives the waffle house cheeseburger very low marks. But it's still his favorite restaurant for all the other items.

Not so fast my friend.

Sounds like a franchise opportunity. Look into it. No Waffle House has ever failed.
quote:
You generally cannot get a new Waffle House franchise because the company owns almost all locations and doesn't offer them to the public, focusing on company-owned growth and maintaining strict consistency. Any existing franchises are very limited, often held by long-term, successful internal partners, and require significant capital (potentially $1M+ net worth) and restaurant experience, with a strong commitment to their system, notes Leap Brands and Atlanta Magazine.
Why it's difficult:
Company-Owned Model: Waffle House primarily uses a company-owned structure, not open franchising, to ensure brand uniformity.
Internal Focus: Franchise opportunities, when available, usually go to insiders, like existing managers, rather than external applicants.
High Barriers to Entry: Even for potential partners, requirements include substantial net worth, industry background, and a deep understanding of the Waffle House culture

I'm 67 and when I go to a WH for the first time, I'll give you an opinion...

I miss Waffle House so much being out here in Utah.

Sometimes items are subbed if there is a gap in the supply chain

Texas sausage egg cheese melt
plain hashbrowns
pecan waffle
black coffee
This is my order, except I get the hashbrowns covered.

The one on Elysian Fields shut down. But more for rowdy customers and shootings than lack of business.

They cleaned the dead rats out of the grease traps. Mark your calendar six months from now for next time!

My waffle house isn't in the French Quarter.

My standard order: hash browns, smothered, covered and capped. Two eggs over easy on top. Side of sausage. Raisin toast with grape jelly.
Wait……. People order things other than the all star breakfast?

Well this thread convinced me I need to take the family to Waffle House soon.
