The lack of prentention not only of the bar, but of the clientele. I go to Ships Lounge quite often. I even had my birthday party there this year. It's BYOB for liquor and they sell set-ups. It's a no cussing bar or Charlie, the owner who is there most the time, will put your arse on the pavement. And the juke box hasn't been updated in 30 years.

I would say the georges under the overpass qualifies.
No way!

So what is the point? Is this enjoyable?
Apparently the new fad amongst internet figs is to see who can out dive bar each other. I don't get it.

Brothers Lounge on Magazine would have to qualify.
shite, I'd even say the Mayfair comes close.

Is that place still open? Talk about a dive bar.
What about Chris's on North Blvd? The Thirsty Tiger downtown? The original Happy Note?
eta: This thread makes the point that some people have a need to create an argument out of anything.

And by better you mean dirtier and uglier patrons right? Because that is obviously important.

I have explained to you
1) The people
Characters that have been going in there for
years.
2)The charm that only age can bring...see old
Jeans.
Maybe you are too young to have bar memories...but you will one day and you will enjoy returning to those bars.

Totally...and with even stranger rules like you can only drink whiskey with your left hand while standing on your right foot 64.2 degrees east of Mecca or you're out on your arse.

So this can only be found at a "dive" bar?

So a dive bar is basically just an old bar?

Yes, Old bar with old patrons....not really you or powermans cup of tea...but you would be welcome without your attitude.

I have the attitude? I just like going places that I can be myself ad not worry about being judged. Based on this thread, I would not be able to do that at certain "dive" bars.
I couldn't curse.
I possibly wouldn't be able to wear something that I was comfortable in.
So that's it now? No more dirty? No more smelly? No more roaches?
No, but when you're going to start calling people out, try to figure out exactly what you mean first.

Not that I've seen. But I guess maybe Dive Bars are like old houses. Some people like Old Houses enough to want to live in them because of the old character, warts and all. And some people want newer houses.
