I snack on jerky as an additional source of protein everyday. The cost of good jerky has gotten ridiculous for a while now, so I thinking about getting a dehydrator to make my own.

The Excalibur brand appears to be one of, if not thee, dehydrator brand to go with.

I’m looking at the 6 tray dehydrator for $199 plus a 15% sign up discount, so it’ll come out to around $185 after tax and free shipping.

Can anyone share their experience with these dehydrators? Would also appreciate any tips as I will be new to the dehydrating world?

I got lucky and bought in 2020 a 9 tray Excalibur from Woot for $181.89 Reg. $300.
It maintains set point on the heat settings, I always place a thermometer just inside the door for ease of checking. Remember it takes about 4 lbs. of meat to get 1lb. of jerky, I have dehydrated bushels of apple slices, oranges, pineapple, blueberries, tomatoes, corn, carrots. I also use it to make yogurt which I prefer over the store bought.
So yes I would recommend an Excalibur.

Pulled the trigger on the Excalibur. A little excited about it.

I just had mine delivered and have used it on two batches of peppers. It’s way bigger than you think! It’s so much better than the one I had before that comparing them isn’t even fair.
