We buy the white cloth w/blue stripes @ Sam’s Club. They clean up pretty well, but inexpensive enough to toss if the get really bad stains(beet juice)…

Those work OK, but they do stain quickly and they really are not all that thick for absorption.

I prefer a thicker, all cotton one with just a single color and no decorative borders that shrink up more so than the towel when washed and dried.

Every old towel we have in the house winds up in my shop to be used as a grease rag, washing and drying my cars or motorcycle, stain spreader on woodworking projects, etc.

By the time they do get tossed for good, they are totally worthless.
