Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Really good beer. Any word on the job you interviewed for in Houston?

There are just more interesting beers out there now IMO

Yeah, the American beer scene has really exploded. I find myself not even venturing into the imports b/c I have usually maxed out my beer load before even getting halfway through the domestic selection.

Me too. Which are your favorites? The Mikkeller Brunch Weasel is the best I've had, I think.

- Honestly, I have tried a tremendous amount of them, but one of my favorites is Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout. I haven't spent the time to really learn enough about beers to be able to go in a store and know what I'm looking at with a lot of the beer. Though I probably spend $20-50's a week at Calandro's right by my house.

This is a great stout for sure. Other good ones, off the top of my head: Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, Squatter's Outer Darkness, Great Divide Yeti, Mikkeller Breakfast Stout, Stone Russian Imperial Stout. All but the Yeti are at Calandro's. Calandro's also has the Nogne O Imperial Stout, which is a bit pricey but worth a try.

- I'm going to make a note of those, and I don't mind spending money on beer...not really an issue. Although I've not been doing much on the dark side since it's summer. My latest venture has been trying some saisons.

I drink more of the dark stuff in the winter too. What saisons have you been drinking? Do you like Belgian style ales?

The Belgian Style Yeti is one of my favorites and I think it is probably better than the regular Yeti.

I've only had the opportunity to try the regular Yeti. Hopefully I'll try the others one day.

- the last one I tried was Vielle Provision Saison Dupont, and I liked it a lot. I have a Ommegang Hennepin in the fridge that I might break out tomorrow night. I'm a fan of Belgian Ales that I've had, but I'm still very much in the learning phase about beers, so I don't know much about them.

I'll be hooking up snogT next time I head down that way and I'm sure I'll have room for an extra Belgian Yeti.

It is all about what you like, but it sounds like you are on the right track. Ommegang is the best domestic brewer of Belgian style ales IMO. Anything in their lineup will be good. Try the Rare Vos too. Brooklyn's Local 1 and Local 2 are also top notch. Unibroue, from Canada, makes really good Belgian style stuff. I recommend their La Fin du Monde and Maudite for starters.

FBD was a Grodziskie Smoked Sour Wheat at The Cove. Lots going on here and I enjoyed it.

Followed that with a Mikkeller 1,000 IBU. Extremely hoppy, but not nearly as tasty as Heady Topper.

TBD was a tasting of Reissdorf Kolsch. Best kolsch I've ever had, bar none. Didn't realize they could be so tasty.
