We ate at LSU every day the first week. I can't recall exact details, but pretty quickly they opened the Highland Cafeteria I think it was, and all faculty, staff, students, and family could eat all 3 meals there. It was pretty amazing they did that, and it sure helped break up the boredom of sammiches.

Our power was out for 11 days, but my sister got power back on Friday evening, after - what? - 5 days basically. I think she's on the grid w/ OLOL. So we pitched in together and ate over there after her power came back.

We actually were way more uncomfortable for sleeping than eating, but that would be the Bed and Bath Board.

After Katrina, my dad brought home two big boxes of them. I would bring them for lunch at school and the students would drop in just to see them cook. They weren't bad!

Some of them are pretty good. I ate them for almost a month after Katrina and I could do it again in a heartbeat.

Luckily all the tailgating stuff is mine so it made things pretty easy. Had 3 ice chests full of ice, the generator running the fridge, microwave when needed, fans/tv, and a flood light when I was outside cooking.

Really didn't have to change much, just couldn't bake anything. It was either on the gas grill or on the propane stove I use for tailgates.

I was out for 7 days but was at work during the day (food, A/C, etc during the daytime) and my Fiancee had power back within 19 hours but she had about 15 people over there, so I'd head to my house for some solace...

After going through Andrew, I made sure we has a gas stove put in when we built. So it was almost normal.

Power was only out for 4 days in our subdivision in Prairieville. All the neighbors got together and shared everything in our freezers/fridges. Probably ate better those 4 days than any time since. Steaks, chicken, sausage, veggies.

I have an electric stove so I was eating spaghettios, creamed corn and baked beans for a few days until I evacuated to monroe.
Oh that and strawberry cake with creamcheese icing that I had made for my girlfriends birthday. Talk about a shitty birthday for her. Sitting around in the dark with her family eating half melted cake. happy birthday

My roommate and I made his girlfriend (she offered) make up about 6 dishes and ran the fridge off the generator. We had crawfish pasta, pastalya, 7 layer dip, spaghetti, and a few more. Great food. We would hook the microwave up to heat it. Like a week long vacation.

This thread makes me wonder why more people simply don't have a propane burner and tank at the least.

I lived on chips-ahoyy cookies and frosted flakes. Washed it down with warm water. Thank God I was only out of electricity for four days.

My parents left Kenner to stay with me, mistake on their part lol. However, they did bring a lot of filet mignon and lobster tails and portobello mushrooms that I cooked on the grille. Had that for two nights. Then we cooked all the meats in my freezer. I had Hamburger Helpers in the pantry, so that helped as well.

Oh and lots of Bud Light
