Some other restaurants of interest:

Nikko's on Saratoga - Medium price steak place (think similar pricing to Outback) that has some good seafood options as well. Seared Tuna is great. Most of the sides and desserts are way too much food. If you want to gorge yourself this is a good place

Katz21 - Now on the south side. Expensive a la carte steak place but you can get out cheaper if you go into the bar area and order off the bar menu. Depending on when you go in you'll see plenty of eye candy here. Both with the people working and with all the sugar babies in there hanging out. Bar area is good for watching sports.

Some new places for those who have been here before but haven't been in a while

8TE - This place is sort of a southern sandwich shop that's also open for breakfast. I've been for both breakfast and lunch and enjoyed it.

The Post at Lamar Park This place has some good (albeit expensive) cocktails. Good beer list. If you're into trying high end whiskey you'd like this place. Also of note, their Heisenburger made the Texas Monthly top 50 burgers in TX list. This is a great place to go with a group and try some of the small plates. The brussel sprouts are delicious. It is named as such because it is where the old post office was. Of all the places I've recommended, this would probably be the one that I would say is a must visit.

If you're in this area there are 2 other great places close by. Italian - Bellino's (PDF menu) is in village shopping center.

Chop and Eggs

This place is really new. I finally just made it in on Sunday. It gets really really busy on Sundays during breakfast/brunch hours. I really enjoyed it. Great breakfast/brunch place.

Ginger Cafe - Owned by the same people that own Chop and Eggs. Great mediterranean food. Any of the lamb dishes are great. There are some Indian dishes on the menu - I don't advise that you order those.

Royal India of Corpus Christi - New Indian place that has a buffet during the day. I was ecstatic to see that Corpus finally has a solid Indian place. This place is better than any Indian place I've been to in the NOLA metro area by a wide margin.

At some point I might actually recommend some Mexican places

So Mexican food....I won't lie, I'm not a huge fan of the Mexican food here for the most part. It's neither authentic Mexican nor is it great Tex Mex like you can find in places like Houston and San Antonio. It's South Texas Mexican...whatever the F that is.

That being said, I do enjoy a few of the restaurants.

Can Cun on the South side is not too far from my house. They have good salsa and pretty good enchiladas.

Mole - I like this one because it's unlike most of the other places around here. They specialize in food from central Mexico. The chunky avocado app is great. Really good salsa bar, friendly service. On airline and SPID in the same shopping center as the Sprout's market (which sucks infinitely)

Nano's Taco Run - If you want to gain weight, eat here. Good place for breakfast tacos. Speaking of which, this is pretty much the breakfast taco capital of the world. We don't do many things well here in the food world but don't frick with us on our breakfast tacos. (And coincidentally CC is the fattest city in the country)

Taqueria Jalisco - There are about 30 of these dumb arse places in town at least if I had to guess. The one on Cimarron on the south side is a newer location and has solid food.

Acapulco Restaurant - Somehow this place gets good review on yelp. I've been twice. Didn't care for it. Food doesn't seem that fresh to me.

La Playa on Saratoga - This is a pretty good all around Mexican place.

Asian Food: I've already mentioned Royal India

There are a handful of good Asian places worth mentioning.

Sushi:
Aka (downtown location is sushi only I believe...one on Everheart has hibachi also)

Takenawa - Sushi and Hibachi

South Texas Sushi - Haven't been but have heard good things

Pho Saigon - This place is fantastic. Get the Ramn soup with an egg. Or get anything else. Place has great Vietnamese food.

Thai Cottage - This is a TX chain but solid Thai food regardless.

Hudat - Has a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese food. The one on the southside on staples has a lounge next to it that serves drinks and sushi and you can order from the Hudat menu also. I'm not entirely sure but I think this place might be owned by Dat Nguyen's relatives or something. I can't confirm that and don't really care that much to find out one way or another.

Vietnam restaurant - This isn't really so much of an Asian place as it is a fine dining place. It's downtown in a hotel. White table cloth type of place. Good place to bring clients if you're on a business trip.

Sounds good

And how can I forget to mention BBQ?

The Rudy's on SPID is probably the best bet for BBQ in the area. Brisket is really good.

Another popular spot downtown is Vernon's but I've only been once. Sort of a dive, I've never had the food but I've met some people for drinks.

I probably should have mentioned Executive Surf Club downtown for tonight as it was pint night.

How dare you not include PF Chang's for Asian?!?

It's conveniently located by the mall and right off SPID, which reminds me ... I was at the mall in CC and must have been a wrasslin' show in town. All midgets.

Good times.

I probably did leave out a few Asian places but was trying to avoid chains

Also not sure how I left out B and J's Pizza. The wings there are great. I used to frequent the one on Staples. Pretty close to my house and good beer selection.

I recommend Quality Packers in Victoria.

It was rated as one of the best new bbq joints in the State by Texas Monthly. I've been there twice and was impressed both times. Ask for the fatty cut of brisket. Sides are good quality too.

The best bbq in Corpus is Mike Cotten's in my opinion. One location is actually in Portland, just northeast of downtown. Again, the fatty brisket is the tits. Sides are as bland as most bbq joints.

Make it a must to eat at The Republic, located on the top floor of the Omni Hotel. Nice bar area and plenty of people to converse with. For dinner, ask for a view overlooking the bay. Great scenery. Get there early as the place gets pretty busy.

Ditto. One of the best steaks I have ever had in my life was served to me there. I went two more times after that and was less impressed. The texture was different as if I was being served choice instead of prime. But you do not leave hungry.

They also have a good selection of top shelf booze. Two visits ago they had Pappy. But they always have Garrison Brothers, which I like as an oaky whiskey.

Downtown area there is a place called Harrison's Landing that is pretty good. Part of the general seating area is actually on a floating dock. Nice outside eating atmosphere. There is a Landry's next door also.

I would say it's serviceable. Their fish tacos are good. But during my most recent visit I got a dozen oysters on the half shell and for the first time in my life tasted a bad one. I had to spit it on my hand and tossed into the bay. Since it had never happened to me in my life, I figured the odds would be low that it would happen again. Two oysters later I tasted a similar bad one - tossed it in the water. Most people would have called the waiter by now. But I'm a risk taker (occasional moron) and tried once more thinking a two time occurrence is a textbook example of what a coincidence looks like. Once I got the third bad oyster, I hailed a waiter and reported it. They comped my meal but I will never eat raw oysters at Harrison's again.
