Mason's is not a 'great' restaurant, but it is pretty good. Their parking lot looks like it was used for bomber target practice.

They fixed a bunch of the pot holes but I l've always hated Ruth Chris and Ninfas. Ruth's gets saved by the valet service when it's available but both lots are tiny.

I agree on both counts.

Mutually exclusive.

Oh come on, Assman. Dragos isn't "great" but it's good. Why the hate?

And yes, their parking lot does suck.

Not even close to great. Do you want me to name 40 better places in NOLA?

Well to be fair, with New Orleans, almost all of the restaurants have shitty parking. So of course you're going to have a lot of great restaurants with shitty parking...

Baton Rouge is more spread out and some of the better restaurants actually have parking lots so you don't have to park in front of some poor schmuck's house.

My premise was the OP calling Sammy's a great restaurant. The Plucker's was thrown in the mix.

That wouldn't be hard to do, but for the price, Dragos is good and better than just about any restaurant in BR within the same range.

I think Dragos is a decent place. I think all things considered, the BR restaurant scene sucks arse.

Your statement is wrong, though.

The thing with Baton Rouge is it's a city that has rapidly expanded and a lot of it is new money. It doesn't have the same rich traditions that New Orleans has when it comes to culinary culture.

I'm not sure I would say the restaurant scene sucks arse. It leaves a lot to be desired but there aren't many cuisines that aren't represented there at a quality level. You just have to know where to go.

The market just isn't there for it to be a top dining destination. Such a large portion of the population is lower income on the north side and on the south side you have a lot of temporary residents in the form of college students.

I just find the BR dining scene boring. I don't think anyone's asking for or expecting it to be a "dining destination" per se, but I can think of several much smaller cities that have more interesting options than BR.

That wasn't really the thrust of what I was getting at, though. As uninteresting as it may be, I could think of 10-15 places with a similar price point as Dragos that I would put above Dragos in BR.
