They do. I seent it yesterday. I think it's solely for upstairs and beer events though. Everything else comes straight from the brite tank.

Gotcha... I knew they served in the pub straight from the tanks. Makes sense to be able to keg some for events.

Maybe he is building up money for a tribute to ask for a small bbl % that can be distributed.

Could someone start a small distributorship in name only? Employ no one, use the brewers as contract employees to deliver the beer.

Or is there a certain take the distributors have to get by law?

I would think this is his angle. And not even on a large scale, just to a few of the places he hangs out at when not at work.

If he wants to distribute why doesn't he change his license from 'Microbrewery' to 'Beer Manufacturer'?

With the changes to the RS passed last year 'Beer Manufactures' can now serve the first 3000 BBLS in house and retain the ability to use a distributor if they for getting kegs to bars.

Not an ideal solution, but at least laws are progressing in the right direction.

It may be that he doesn't want to use a distributor period.

Doesn't want the middle man, the hassle, the pressure.

I'm sure he doesn't. I'm sure no brewer/brewery wants to use a distributor until they need one.

I'm just saying there are options available to achieve his goal within the current laws.

But as soon as he changes, guest taps go bye-bye.

Then it would be illegal for him to have guest taps. At least that's my understanding.

Another little piece of the law that should be reviewed.

Seriously? What objection could somebody possibly have with guest taps?

If the beer industry was in charge of the restaurant industry, restaurants would be able to serve chicken OR beef, but not both, and you would not be allowed to have a drive thru window if you already serve food on site...

I agree...

I think 'guest taps' were legal for all breweries with a tap room until last session.

Before last session breweries had to operate their taprooms under a Class AG liquor license which is why no one under 18 was allowed on premises for tours or in the tap rooms.

In the last session the statutes that allowed breweries to obtain the Class AG permit were repealed and the brewery permitting statutes were amended to give holders for Microbrewery and Manufacture permits the right to sell their beer directly to consumers.

This was intended to allow breweries the to operate a tap room without the class AG age restrictions, but how it affected guest taps I honestly don't know... Unfortunately a lot of that is probably up to the commissioner of the ATC and local ABC boards.

That's just how it's written.

We had our big homebrew event at Tin Roof Brewing over the weekend and the rule was no outside commercial beers, since they only had the license to sell their own and had a special homebrew event permit.

The rule wasn't followed, but it was there.

Reading the laws, there's a bunch of dumb stuff in there..
LINK

For example, at the bottom of page 92, you can't sell beer if you are a donut shop.

That seems oddly specific. I wonder who pissed who off to get that in there.

I could have sworn Tastee on Clearview sold beer. They have poker.

Please find the time TODAY to write to your representatives to VOTE NO ON HOUSE BILL 27. This bill will raise excise taxes on small, local breweries, which could cripple our burgeoning industry. Attached is a list of reasons why we small brewers are opposed to these burdensome tax increases, and why you should support us in defeating this bill. Following is a list of members on the Ways and Means committee that is preparing to vote TOMORROW.
PLEASE take a few minutes to SUPPORT SMALL BREWERIES IN LOUISIANA and tell your representatives to VOTE NO ON HOUSE BILL 27.
THANK YOU!
