It's not on the menus of the places I frequent, but I'm quite fond of a nice lobster bisque.

Chain restaurants...absolutely. Though the southwest egg rolls are up there as well.

So iconic, the parent company of Outback named itself after the appetizer.

Mrs TW loved those in our younger days when we would go there and get hammered on Margs

Legend is, it was invented at Russel's Marina Grille in New Orleans. I think there are a couple of other places that claim to have first done it as well, but they certainly did so before Outback ever existed.

I can't think of where off the top of my head, but several local places have a more refined version with crawfish tails or boudin that are .

Though not like nostalgic happy hour with 1/2 priced apps and 2 for 1 margs where a 20 something could wine and dine his lady while balling on a budget.

Outback, 25 years ago were the GOAT ! Then the stupid F'ks at the Center for Science in the Public Interest (leftist group) ran a hit story on 48 hours about the calories, etc..., and Outback cut it in half not long after. It hasn't been the same since. Who didn't know a giant plate of fries covered with three cheeses and bacon, served with a dipping sauce, was highly caloric ?
