Well you don't know arrangements with the building owner either though. They could have just not come to terms for many reasons, length of lease, money, maintenance etc... and just decided to move on.

I'm sure the space won't stay empty long.

That isn't the issue.

Whose issue?

Likely, but good crowds mean revenue, not profit and he didn't make enough of it. Otherwise it would keep going.

He has other successful business and is tired of babysitting a restaurant.

Wrong. Knowing Dave pretty well, he's been tired of food for a long time. He's doing well with Radio Bar and he has the new beer garden opening so I bet he'll be making his living selling booze. His lease is up on the building but he owns the Chelsea's concept. Someone can lease the building and open a restaurant like Chelsea's there but it can't be called that unless they buy it from Dave.

Fair enough, I know jack about running a restaurant but I know other places would kill for the business they got. I hope whoever replaces it can keep it going, I love that spot.

This sounds right. The menu hadn't changed in forever

Not wrong unless you are saying there is no amount of money that could entice him to keep it open. Which is a possible scenario.

No fricker. you're quote

implies that his business was failing and he couldn't keep it going. The business is fine but he's been tired of being in the food business. So you're wrong and why the frick do you care, you're in ATL?

Wow. Nice guy.

Didn't mean it that way, but I see that it would likely be interpreted that way.

Wow. This really blows. Great drinks, amazing food, and a pretty damn good beer selections.

My fav is the grilled cheese add fried chicken.

No scratch that. When my boy was working in the kitchen he used to throw a fried egg and bacon on top of the chicken biscuits on Sat morning. That was the greatest shite ever.

I explained it already, and admitted I see the point.

What else do you want?

Based on the reaction I am guessing this is the first time there has ever been something unclear on a message board.

And it must be the first time a post has ever taken a tangent.

This is terrible news. I worked in the Pharmacy down the street for 5 years and would eat at Chelsea's at least once a week during that period. I also hung around there many nights during college watching bands play. I bought my very first (legal) beer there on my 21st birthday. It was my favorite restaurant in my hometown.

Having said that, I visited the night before thanksgiving and there was a noticeable apathy in the food. It wasn't bad by any means, just mostly average. My wife and I agreed that it was not the usual standard of Chelsea's food. This explains a lot.

Hopefully somebody can snatch that space up and keep a good thing going.

This is awful news. I hope somebody saves this place and keeps it going. It would be so sad to see this BR icon go away.
