Typically you can walk in unless you are trying to get one on Mardi Gras day or the weekend leading up to Fat Tuesday. I’d still call ahead regardless.

Right by that American Legion Hall.
Not 100% certain of the hours though. Think they close at 5.

Bittersweet Confections
I saw you mention this on the OT. This year, I'm having one king cake, and soon, because I'm going out of town next Wed until after MG. Should this be my one king cake? What kind would you compare it to?

They’re kind of pricier but Bittersweet Confections is a high end bakery

For anyone in Baton Rouge, I had two from Ambrosia a few weeks ago and both were fantastic. One was traditional and one was pecan praline/cream cheese. Much better than I expected.

What about Navarre's Famous King Cakes in Springfield? Are they worth the drive from BR if you just like plain cinnamon?

DP has gotten crazy hard to get.

Got a regular cinnamon from Rosch bakehaus in BR this week. Pretty dissapointing. Very dry and bready. It reminds me of old cinnamon raisin bread. I have a half the cake and it will get used for bread pudding or French toast.

I have seen a few mentions of this. I will have to check them out this week. Have really liked everything else from there.

Has anyone tried one from Southern Maid Donuts in P’ville? I went to pick up donuts and kolaches the other day for some customers and they looked pretty damn good. I asked the owner about them and he said they aren’t donut king cakes like most donut places.
