I also use a Rubbermaid Brilliance tupperdor. For the cedar aroma, Boveda makes a cedar holder that holds 2 Boveda packs. It holds constant 70% humidity.

Is cedar important? I don’t have any in mine. Ill grab A few of those boveda ones if so

I think the cedar is just for the overall cigar experience since most wood humidors are made of Spanish cedar. It does have a nice aroma when the humidor is opened, but I can’t tell the difference in the cigars themselves. I’m no aficionado, so maybe others can comment on benefits of cedar.

I think the cedar is mostly for insect control, mostly tobacco beetles. That’s what I’ve always heard.

Nothing better then smoking a MF Judge after a 5.5hr deposition. What a day!
Happy Friday gents.

My Carillos arrived just in time. This is my last one in my stash, and the new ones are now chillin.

I’m curious what cigar sizes y’all prefer? Do you stick with a specific size, or do you select based on the blender? I’ve read in reviews where certain shape and sizes can be better or worse with different ones.
I’ve been robusto for the most part, but I have some belicosos that I am really starting to enjoy. The smoke hits the palate nicely, and the weight and feel of it is great.

I tend to gravitate to the same length and gauge in a lonsdale and robusto. But, I would say that I tend to like a particular shape and gauge in the brand cigar I am smoking. My top two are Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 (lonsdale and robusto) and My Father (bellicoso) with the CAO America (torpedo) coming in third. I do venture into sampler packs every now and again, but find that I tend to like what I like. I do keep some cuban's for aging and special occasion smokes but they are on the petit size due to the strength.

I usually lean from 42-52 RG. 48 RG is the sweet spot IMO. But, it all depends on the situation. If I’m by myself, most of the times it’s a corona or Lancero. If I’m smoking with a group, and it’s gonna be a good minute siting down, I’ll lean towards a toro.
Anything over a 54 RG is going into the (showing off) territory IMO.

How many smokes ya got in there now? And I thought I was storing too many as compared to how often I smoke these days.
Also, do you find any significant change in the flavor profile of stored cigars and any "melding" of flavors? I ask because I feel the cuban cigars I do not smoke very often that or stored have developed a more full bodied and overly complex smoke at the beginning.
And for clarification, I do not store in cellophane or in the box they arrived in and do keep different cigars separate from each other when stacked.
ETA: You have me re-thinking my storage plan. I like the fact that you keep the boxes with the cigars in them. My setup was inspired by your cabinet at the beginning of this thread. I have just over 100 cigars stored, aging currently.

Right now I have a little under 850. I like cigar scanner because I can keep track of what I have in each of my humidors and all notes or ratings. I have not noticed any of the flavors rub off because I keep my cigars in the boxes as much as I can. Especially my better cigars.

You sir, or the cigar forum guru! That's an impressive amount of stogies!
Do you keep the cigars in the cellophane wrappers (if they come shipped that way) or unwrap prior to placing in your humidor(s)?

I take them off if they are together in a box and anything loose I keep on. I am to the point where I mostly looking for harder to find boxes like the opus6.

You tried that Davidoff year of the rabbit yet? I’ve been eyeing it for NYE this year.
How does it compare to the Dominica?

Nearly finished a Christmas present, that's actually an excuse to practice before building one for myself
. Definitely learned a few things. Just need to make a top tray and a holder for boveda packs and hygrometer under the lid. It's white oak trimmed in walnut, so it should really pop when I put finish on it.

Impressive!
