Grew up in nola so its nola and everything else. I think driving out to Central to my gf's parents is straight up going to the boonies. So yea Alexandria was pretty much a wasteland to me.

Alex has 4 restaurants downtown now where you can eat at night? Or, are you counting the drugstore?

Ah, makes sense. Had some friends and roommates from Nola in school. Dudes/gals were the most geography challenged people I've ever encountered.

That would be New Orleans for me.

Stop it.

Yes, the best drugstore hamburger you can get, When they have the Bayou Dog Hotdog cart out in front of Tamp and Grind (new coffee house!), that would count as 5. You are lucky I didn't count it!

Food and Drink has been a tough one for reasonable people today. You got an out of control crawfish thread, a bash Alex fest, and the potential good one going in a Yuengling thread.

I dont doubt it. Unless you had family in other towns, or was going to an LSU game, you never really had any reason to go anywhere else outside nola.

Is GG's still going?

I say we count it.

Me getting this far into it and not talking about our new Johnny's Pizza House has taken quite a bit of restraint.

I've been there, but it's been years. The veg beef soup was good for a drugstore.

I think you're lucky you didn't count that. Your credibility would have been shot.

The Diamond Grill is a beautiful space, but the accoustics are awful or they were. The food was just okay.

maybe so, but they have a 'bayou sauce' they put on the hotdog that is made of onions and at least a little balsamic that makes it the best hot dog I have ever eaten.

I only go for special occasions. Some of those are nights with set menus. It's been amazing every time.

I'm sure it's good, but it's not a restaurant.

Embers is good enough. Their pizza is good, just not $16-18 good and I recently got the pad Thai, which eas good, but they gave me a side portion for $12! I know the atwoods are not small people and would expect better portions. Bistro is mediocre as well, frick them and their over priced food

I know I didn't contribute to the op's request, but I figured 6 pages in on cenla food probably exhausted all our options! ;-)
