Thats why Im curious. Po-Boy I had in walker had a crispness to the bread.

Maybe they toast it. Toasting the bread and especially with butter makes it a good bit better in my opinion.

Where is this?

New Orleans east on Haynes blvd by the lake. They sell a good bit of whole fresh fish, shrimp, etc. They are a seafood market also.

Is this the location of the old Dockside (before they moved to Picayune)? I haven't been out that way in forever...

Good post, I might try Sherwood Po'boys, it's in the neighborhood.

Shortstop is definitely not a seafood poboy place. Last trip to NO I took my wife and I told her to get either the roast beef or hot sausage, the shrimp and oyster were subpar. Of course she got the shrimp and bitched about it, my RB was excellent.

Are you talking about castnet? If so they have been there forever as cast net. Don't know really about dockside.

Did sherwood poboy change ownership? I have been there twice and both times were awful. First time I got the shrimp poboy and the shrimp were few and tasteless, the bread was very rubbery. I tried it a second time and got a simple ham & cheese poboy and it was just as bad, bread was stale and the ham was burnt. It's the only place I have ever seen mess upa ham and cheese poboy.

Not sure, I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago after Zilla recommended it.

And althought it wasn't a shrimp poboy, had an irish dip from O'briens grille on the westbank and it was a 10 out of 10. Was pricey at $15 but worth it in my opinion.

Bread: toasted leidenheimer bread
Meat: sliced ribeye and sliced corned beef served with au jaus gravy. Meat was very juicy and was probaby the best sandwich I've ever eaten.

Wasnt the Sherwood location another po-boy place before it became sherwood po-boy?

I only recently tried the location in walker but I guess its possible that they made a change. I know I was suprised at the quality and taste of the shrimp they use on their poboy.

It's been about a year and a half that I was there but i'm pretty sure it was still sherwood poboy. Maybe I'll try them again.

Go to Food and Spirits as soon as you can.

Get a grilled shrimp poboy. I like to keep it simple and get it plain with a little butter on the bread. The juices from the grilled shrimp mix with the butter and it is amazing. 10 bucks.

short stop makes pretty average to below average po boys besides their roast beef. Had a nasty shrimp po boy there last time i ate there.

my 2 favs are Bobby's seafood in river ridge, and Smilie's on Jefferson HWY @ Edwards ave in old jefferson
