I think some people like the "homestyle" burger vs a traditional burger. Homestyle for me is the meatloaf version with onion soup mix and bread crumbs etc vs just gound meat with salt pepper and garlic on it.

80/20 ground shoulder
Season salt
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Grill on med-high to high temp
Smash burger down and hold with press to achieve Maillard reaction. You want that crispy outer layer that will hold in the juices and give you that fantastic flavor.
