I eat at chains sometimes, we all do out of necessity, if I have 25 minutes between appointments a drive thru is the only answer. Once past the fast food level I generally don't do chains if I am in south Louisiana. If I am traveling all bets are off, especially since I have to travel to Alabama frequently, maybe the worst food state in America, chains are the safest bet.
Since we have a particularly bad selection of Asian food in BR, I see why Changs gets its share. BTW, I eat at high end places only 3 or 4 times a year. The rest of the time mom & pops get my business.

The fact that you ordered off the appetizer menu proves your ignorance. Your not a food snob really. Just retarded and out to bash the place. You probably hate sex and think soccer is cool.

Is Hunans really a picture menu? If it is, then something drastic must have happened.
It's not picture menu like China Star, China Taste, China Bear, China (Insert Name Here), but the quality isn't any better. Like I said, nothing against Hunan's, used to eat it all the time.

This is a much overused bullshite response every time someone has a negative thought about eating at a chain restaurant. Get over it. Some people don't think highly of the place are places like it. Live a little and search out a good local place instead of just doing like the masses and going where the biggest crowd is on the busiest intersections.
PF Changs isn't a bad choice. I am sure in alot of smaller cities, they would be one of the better places.
I just don't understand why people just don't explore sometimes. Someone I know just took a trip to Houston and Dallas. They came back and told me they ate at Outback, Chilis, and Cracker Barrel.

It's true.
There is one busy intersection not far from where I live where there is a PF Changs, Outback, Bravo, Red Lobster. I can name better places at the same price point or lower within two miles very easily. Guess which places are going to have the lines out the door every weekend.

So that automatically makes them bad?

Nope(except for the Red Lobster), but it shows that the masses are going for the easy and predictible at the busy interesection and alot of people will not make just a little extra effort to find a local places that may be just a block or two away.
Carry on folks. I don't have much to say about PF Changs in general, I just had to chime in on the "we all can't eat at 5 star places" comment because I think it is a cop out.

Hey Chazz,
Before you use the very offensive word "retarded" check your spelling of "your"

If a Chinese guy likes it, it's good enough for me.
I am chinese and absolutely hate the place. And no, I am not a chain snob.
The reason I mention hunan's is because there are cooks in the back taht can actually cook real chinese food. If you just ask them they will make it for you if you insist. Even some of the dishes on the main dinner menu (not buffet) are pretty authentic chinese cuisine. You just have to know where to look.

What should I ask for? Dish name?

PF Changs (and really all restaurants in Towne Centre) is somewhere I have only been to twice in my life. I never think about it, and honestly don't think I'm missing much. From what I remember, I didn't hate it or anything.. it's just not something I care much about.

Honestly, my chinese is not that good and I dont know the exact name of the dishes. But if you ask your waiter for authentic off-the-menu chinese food, they will usually talk to the chef for you and set you up with something that the chef recommends. We've had great spicy beef dishes, bok choy and fried tofu dishes, and various others. The only thing that you have to hope for is that it's not one of the mexicans that's running the kitchen that night (I'm not being racist here, but the majority of the kitchen there is mexicans that they hire from a work program).

Wish we had a solid Vietnamese choice around here. I miss Saigon over on State street.
Little Saigon, corner of Florida and N. Sherwood.

I find it hard to believe that Hunan's has a "chef."

How are you Chinese, and don't know the names of the meals?

They do. It's a fact. You might hate the place but they still do have a head chef.

Because the names are in chinese and my chinese isn't very good. What else is there to be explained?

I enjoyed the orange peel scrimps at Changs quite a lot, actually. The rest was "ok."

Before I joined TD, I never knew this place was so polarizing.

I've eaten at PF Chang's five times, and all five times i have wasted my money. small portions, bland food, plenty of hidden salt to affect you later. i have tried numerous apps, entrees, etc. the food sucks
i'd take a picture menu place any day
