It is what Mike Anderson's used to be. But maybe Mike Anderson was never what I thought was in my youth.

I never had a dish at Parrain's that I thought they did poorly. The food is very good without being pretentious in the presentation. It is what a Louisiana seafood joint should be.

I love their tobasco pepper jelly dressing for their salads. Their gumbo and etoufee are solid. The beer is Abita and they carry Andygator. What more could you ask for?

It's all good, and as mentioned above the Tabasco jelly salad dressing is good, as is their peanut cole slaw, potato salad, gumbo, crab cakes, Catfish Acadiana(they know how to batter and fry well), grilled or fried oysters, it doesn't matter, they don't have a hit-and-miss menu like many of their similar fared joint contemporaries in BR..Parrains is very consistent.

Best seafood in BR IMO. Never had a bad meal or bad service. Half off oysters on Tuesdays

It's good. Get a dozen or two of the chargrilled oysters for apps.Andouille encrusted fish dish is a good choice.

The eggplant/crab appetizer is ridiculous.

Whoa. Watch it there.

Already said, but my favorite things about Parrain's are the house salad dressing, peanut coleslaw, and the way they fry their seafood.

I've only eaten there once, and I haven't forgotten it. I had blackened mahi mahi and it was excellent.
