I started at 335. Scary shite

I've been about the same weight for the last year though. I don't want to "settle in" at this weight.

The last time I lost any significant weight was in 08 when I went from 280 to 260 or so. Since then I've maintained but not lost any.

Now or never!

Just keep at it. There WILL be bumps in the road. When you get stressed and pissed off, come on here and vent. Don't vent by hitting Taco Bell.

I never got quite that big, Powerman, but I was up to 290+ and am now in the low 220s... you can do it.

What killed me the last couple years was my excessive intake of alcohol. I've quit drinking completely so that's cutting a lot of the calories. Now I've started an exercise routine with resistance training and cardio so I think I'll have little problem.

I've never been a terrible eater other than my occasional sweet tooth.

Alcohol is killer. If I had the fortitude to cut it entirely I'd have probably hit my goal by now.

It was going to be the death of me.

But that's for another story.

I haven't had a drink in 19 months. Probably the only reason I have been able to stay on this diet for 7 months.

I manage to drink only on the weekends. When I do, I usually just hit booze with diet mixers. Not the perfect scenario, but better than a 12 pack.

Depends on how much booze, but sticking with diet mixers is important. Sugary mixers can really pack on the calories fast.

They probably drink a lot less.

The calorie difference per alcohol content is pretty minimal, just people don't tend to drink wine in excess like they do beer.

I did this. Lost about 20-25 lbs in 3-4 months a little over a year ago by drinking only red wine and never more than 2-3 glasses. I've since put about 10 lbs back on during football season/hunting season as I can't sit around and tailgate, watch football, sit at the deer camp and drink wine all day. I'll end up with one killer headache in the morning.
I think I'll just have to settle for the fall 15 each year and knock it out in the spring.

Absolutely. I love splitting a bottle of red wine and enjoying it more slowly than I would splitting a few pitchers of beer.

I wonder if you could get the same benefits by just drinking grape juice

I've heard promoters of grape juice products claim that it is good for your heart

Does anyone know if wine is really better for you than grape juice though?

I'm kinda curious if there is some sort of substitute that would offer the same benefits of having moderate amounts of alcohol.
