I just don't see the love for South of Philly...Food is meh at best IMO. I've tried it twice, and each time was somewhat of a disappointment for me, relative as to the props other posters on here give it.

Wanna make a bet to how long this great cheesesteak place stays open? That should prove who's right.

And yes, most people in this city want fried shrimp and fries. You may hang with a group that goes and eats but the majority are people 40 and older, wear coaches pants, weigh about 75 pounds too much and want fried shrimp.

Have you seen the parking lots at Golden Corral compared to a place like Dingos on a Friday night? Which do the majority of people in BR prefer?

Thanks for playing.

FWIW I thought dingos is way overrated I dont like buffets. But fresh shrimp off the boat then fried are money. You really cant deny that.

Most definitely. I prefer fresh everything and good meat.

I was speaking of the majority of Baton Rougeans and he was arguing.

I feel that the majority of BR wants fried shrimp and fries.......just go by Golden Corral any night of the week and see what people want.

I mean Zombie is obviously a young guy who thinks everyone is like him and his friends and go eat posh every night or something.

Sometimes people need to look around and notice that the majority in this town are over 40 and do not eat at Tsunami. They eat at the Golden Corral and Ryan's and wouldn't know a good Philly cheesesteak or duck entree if it bit them on the arse.

That's why I wouldn't open a Philly chessesteak place here. Yeah I love them but the vast majority in this town would not even try it.......I'd say 85% wouldn't even try one.

I've eaten there several times. The food is good, and cleanliness has not been a problem on the occasions I've been there.

SOP or PMU?

At PMU.

I had been several times and every time I asked the girl taking orders would look at me like I was crazy. She had no idea what I was talking about.

Then either she or I would ask the redheaded lady and she would say oh yeah, I've been meaning to get some.

Sorry, but if you don't have wiz available, you really aren't selling cheesesteaks.

Thank God SOP opened.

Oh and in Philadelphia, Jim's steaks is the shite.

What is your facination with GC and Ryans? Are you trying to say that the majority of BR eats at those two restaurants? Thats absurd. Ever see the parking lots of Sammy's, Dempseys or hell Mike Andersons Parrains, or Louisiana Lagniappe? Just as packed yet it would be absurd to claim that the majority of BR eats at those places. Ever see the parking lot at Chimes? Hell how about fricking Walk Ons?

Hey All im saying i have eaten at SOP and PMU multiple times. Both have been good. But at SOP the meet has been cooked too long/very dry more than once. And yes the outside of the restaurant does look a little run down. So i'll leave it at that.

I will never go to either of these places.

These places are always slammed when I go out to eat. The last couple times I ended up at Dingo's because I had to drive around so much it got too late to eat anywhere else.

Maybe its just me but if the MAJORITY of a city the size of BR ate at ryans or Golden Corral I would think that they would have more than ONE location and the other location would not have closed down due to lack of business.

But feel free to continue to act like you know something.

I have given them time to settle in.. I like their product Im just not in love with it. They are also pretty pricey for what you get.

But there is ZERO excuse for the condition of the parking lot. They should have cleaned that up before they opened. Its not just bad its horrible. If the owner really cares about the place he would spend 2 hours of his own damn time and pull the weeds or pay someone. I dont know of any other business in BR with a more decrepit parking lot that serves food.

Makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like.

Speaking of filthy, Pat's looks nasty too - in fact Geno's makes a point of mocking them for it by touting their own cleanliness.

Because the food is horrible but yet they are ALWAYS packed. Because that is what the majority of people want.....not all, just the majority. Like I said, the majority of BR is not like this board, eating out at LL or Tsunami.

Huh, these are fried seafood, sandwich places. Kinda of proves my point.

Hell how about fricking Walk Ons?

Walk On's sucks for food, even the fried variety....what of it? I mean I believe you have proven my point? The majority of the places you named are fried food joints, which is what the majority of Baton Rouge wants.

Maybe if Arby's on Jones Creek would have some wiz on hand for their RB sandwichs, they might actually get a few customers.

You know what I mean doofus.

Golden Corral, Ryan's, Texas Roadhouse, Logan's, Applebees, etc....it's all the same crap.

Next time your at say Walkon's on Coursey, ask the owners what their margins each month look like compared to Golden Corral.......then use Walk On's as an example again.
