I do the same when new places open. But Southern Classic has been in Shreveport for many years, and the lines of cars are still ever present.

I remember going down Mansfield Road a couple weeks into covid. It was 3 in the afternoon, and the all the restaurants in the area had empty parking lots. The line at Southern Classic was out to the highway.

I’ve driven past the new one on Johnston st 3 times and there’s been probably 60 cars in line each time. Ridiculous

It’s a Shreveport institution. Glad the rest of the state gets to know the greatness of Southern Classic.

I used to drive from Logansport to Mansfield just for the chicken, the sides are pretty good too. Later on when they opened the Mansfield Road location in Shreveport I would stop on the way home from work at the hospital and it was still warm 45 minutes later when I would get home.

Good yardbird!

The only bad thing about the Southern Classic is that the rolls are always stale, no matter what.

The chicken, gizzards, dirty rice, red beans, French fries (don't sleep on them)... everything is great

Where I discovered SC decades ago. I fell in love with that chicken around 2:00 pm on a weekday afternoon. Glorious fried chicken.
