In response to #1- No, actually I have a masters' degree and I'm in the education profession.

In response to #2- No connection to Walk-Ons (thankfully), which I also think is very mediocre.

The correct answer is that I have no emotional attachment to Chimes, and I also have good taste when it comes to food. And sorry, Chimes just doesn't cut it in my opinion. No need to cry about it; I just don't think it's very good. I'm sure there are some restaurants I like that you wouldn't like. Get over it.

went to the chimes at LSU last night, first time in several months...
overall C
wings app sucked
onion rings greasy sucked
crabcake sandwich was good.
Waitress just left in middle of our stay, didnt tell us, only reason I knew was got ready to leave and had to ask for the check, other chick told us she picked other girltable up... i thought to myself WTF?

I sorta left LSU chimes out since east opened.
Just not like it used to be, at least last night appeared that way.

This is exactly what kills me...if they would put effort into service (and I know that most of the people working there are college part-timers) and revamp the menu, LSU Chimes could be incredible. As is, it's a great place to grab a different beer in a relaxed, fun atmosphere...but it could be so much more.

Nothing worse than wasted potential.

There isn't much you can do to affect my day. Some like Portobello's in Btr, I'll pass. To each his own. All I asked was the ones you prefer. By you not giving an answer, tells me something.

Well, there's not much in Baton Rouge that I really like a lot. But some of my favorites include Thai Pepper, Rama, Maison Lacour, Voodoo BBQ, and Delpit's Chicken Shack.

Went to Chimes last night. Our waitress actually mentioned them losing power the other night. I asked if she had spilled beer down someones back, she said she hadn't. We were there for a couple hours eating and drinking. The waitress was cool and talked/joked with us quite a bit.

Ive only lived in BR for less than a year but ive gone to Chimes a couple times a month since we got here. The service may be a little suspect at times and the food may not be the greatest but we have had a good time every time we go. We have gone for lunch, dinner, and sunday brunch.

Walk ons on the other hand. I met a friend for lunch there last week. When i walked in they asked if they could help me, not if i would like a table. Once i was sat i had to ask for a waitress after 10 min. Then once we were done eating our waitress didnt show back up after dropping out food off for 20 min. Took over an hour to eat lunch at 2pm.

damn, I was there at the beginning of the month and they were having CC machine troubles then too.

definitely not one of my favorites for food, good atmosphere and fun hanging out with friends, but not the place I want to go for an actual meal.

The gumbo at Chimes is horrible regardless.. Its more of a stew on rice its WAYYYYY too thick so much so that it sits on the rice.

I like Chimes I just think it is horribly overrated sort of like Camillia Grill in NOLA is overrated. But their food is in fact VASTLY superior to Walk Ons which is garbage. chimes does onion rings/blackend alligator and a good pork chop as well as nicely fried seafood. Rest is average.

I took an out-of-stater by the Chimes yesterday for lunch, he thought it was great.

I had their roast pork w/ macaroni lunch special, and I was quite impressed. Plus the boudin balls were good as always.

Overrated... yeah, maybe, considering how highly a lot of people regard the place, but I'll still hit it up plenty.
