agreed, and the WHD seems to be finally seeing the light. Hopefully more and more cities embrace this idea and stop the sprawl.
This is my point. We are a city of 1.1 million and we are getting compared to NYC and DC.
NOLA has natural boundaries that are literally forcing us to look within...it has for the city since it was founded. In the 1960-1980's, we moved away and embraced sprawl...the rebirth of the Warehouse District and Lower Garden District has shed new light on what NOLA could be.

Bingo. This was one of the major pains of living there. As, I've said, I still liked it.
When are you moving TA?

I visit friends constantly down there...2-3 times a week. I go to bars and restaurants in that neighborhood at least twice a week. I ask again where exactly is too far from garages or surface lots?

Actually considering a purchase of a second place in the LGD...found a nice condo. The market is ripe, and I have a little extra cash. Just working out some insurance stuff.

parking going to the Rusty Nail is generally a clusterfrick. Also, visiting friends that live in the Girod/Julia area from Camp to Magazine can be interesting, depending if the paved lot near the Julia side seems to be open/operating....which is often not clear.

Rusty Nail is pretty easy now...they opened up and repaved the streets back up in there behind the Cotton Mill...two more condo buildings opened with off-street parking....the street that dead end into the American Sector is repaved and there is always parking....if not the D-day museum paved a very large lot for now (will be hotel/parking garage/conference center)...parking is cheap during the day/night.
Two surface lots...one across from the CAC and the one you reference are now open full time...the increase in demand certainly contributed to that.
I park free 8 trips out of 10 down there...one of those trips is $5 for Wed at Square bc I need a drink and don't feel like looking around...the second is usually a meter.

Interestingly, there are studies that show meter enforcement on Saturdays actually [b]increases the number of spaces available due to turnover throughout the day.
Don't shoot the messenger.

No kidding. I recently bought a weekend condo down there in the Rotunda and have to get up saturday mornings to go feed the fricking meter.

Rotunda is nice....I know some sluts that live there.

Place must attract them. So do I. Of course, I'm married so they're only "clients".

Yea we really like it. Its been great to have a place down there for CCC and FQF. We're really looking forward to having it for football season.
Just bought it a month or so ago so I haven't met the sluts yet!

WTF!?!?! One of my best friends lives there and I have been there AT LEAST 50x and have yet to see 1 hot slut!
ETA: parking around there REALLY sucks now w/ the Saturday meters.

Based on how 99% of your restaurant experiences are somehow bad, I am not suprised at this news.
Does anything ever go your way or is it just some sort of black cloud issue you have?

Sounds like an English Delachaise. Whose food blows these days. Oh well, at least they still have $9 beers bringing in the crowd.

By mentioning my name, you acknowledge my existence.
@ living in Metairie and claiming to know anything about New Orleans!
@ living in DC for a year and being a weekend tourist in New York giving you the knowledge of what "urban living" is when you live in Metairie!

Shut up a-hole. Go flip your bugers, you can't get into any bars yet anyway.

That's not to say, it's not an okay place to live. I've actually done so. Sticking to the main thrust of the topic, the old Roberts was really a great grocery option for the area. It's a shame nobody will do anything with that building. I question the business plan of a little boutique style grocery.
I'd like to see that place turned into a roller rink/live music venue.
Seriously. I think it'd be a hit, much like bowling alleys/dance halls/bars are now popular/funky.
In fact, if we could get the Rock n Bowl owner to run the place, I'm sure it would be a huge hit. Roller skating and listening to a live band. Coolness!
