I bet you don't find any trouble to eat at la Madeline like all other females 18-25. Oh no I can't afford to go to the grocery store, but let's go to la Madeline tonight !!!!

La Madeleine is okay, I guess. But like I said, for the past year or so, I've had a job where I go home with $40 on average. Sometimes it's more, but sometimes even less. Only get scheduled every 2-3 days unless I beg people for more shifts. After gas, rent, bills, etc... it's really hard to afford to cook a decent meal.
And as I said, most things left over gross me out so I have to be careful about what I cook large quantities of.

Why does anyone give a flip what another person does? This is an absolute waste of time. I know plenty of people that don't cook and don't give a shite about cooking and I don't worry too much about them or their families welfare. Lazy? Why? Because instead of cooking they are working, exercising, studying, teaching, volunteering? Give me a break.

Then why get on a message board and complain about other people complaining about other people?

Because I've been a regular poster on this board which is about food and drink. Why are you here? Why would you waste your time with a post like that? Apparently you should be stirring the pot right now.

I don't really know whom I
but this thread has gotten amusing to say the least about it.

All I'm saying is you say it is a waste of time to care what other people do/think, yet you jump on here and do that exact thing.
FWIW, my beef is with the people who have never taken the brief time to learn even the most basic of cooking. I watched a dear friend of mine drop a full basket of breaded catfish into a deep fryer and then turn it on. How does one get to be 30+ years old and not know basics?
Posted on 8/12/12 at 7:09 pm to RaginCajunz
So you have a "beef?" why exactly do you care? Did you have to eat a soggy piece of fish? Really? Does someone's inability to cook really make you have a "beef?"
Do you have a "beef" with handicapped children because they are challenged? Old people because they are old? Slow drivers? Nick Saban? The mailman?
I have a "beef" with dumbasses.

Geez dude, chill the frick out.

Well I'm not the one with the "beef." I just don't judge people by their ability or lack of desire to cook. I'm not that high on my pedestal.

We all hold people in different levels of regard. "beef" is a bit strong of a term. I really don't give a shite one way or another. For the sake of argument, I do think cooking is a very basic human function. If you want to eat all McDonalds, that is your business. I do tend to laugh at the line of people circling the building every time I pass. High horse, pedestal...whatever.
I just happen to know people who feed their kids utter crap all day, every day because they have not taken the time to even try cooking. Is it my place to care? No. I can't say it doesn't make me shake my head a bit.
Maybe I categorize cooking differently than most. That's possible.
Posted on 8/12/12 at 7:44 pm to RaginCajunz
I can cook, but don't particularly care to. If my income allowed, I'd probably eat out a lot more. Right now, it's about half and half...
Posted on 8/12/12 at 7:48 pm to RaginCajunz
Well I think you do give a shite. You are the one with the "beef." and you called me out to begin with. My point is I myself cook. My family cooks. We also eat out and enjoy all types of restaurants. But I don't discount the many friends I have that don't cook and eat out or eat a bowl of cereal or a can of soup. Some people just don't have a desire and look at food just as fuel. Why would I care or look down at them for that? They might look down on me because of the house I live in or the car I drive or the clothes I wear. It's a waste of energy.

Agreed.

I agree with you that I don't give a shite.. since I don't cook often.
But I do think there's nothing wrong with being concerned for people basically killing their children feeding them fast food/cheap processed foods for every single meal. I don't "care" what they do with their life, but I certainly am concerned for people killing their own children.
Just like the public school food system raises concerns for me. I don't have children.. likely never will. But it bothers me that pizza is considered acceptable on a daily basis for school lunches because it has 4 "food groups" on it.

i've never really had the time or patience to do so. i'm in graduate school, and i'm very busy. in my free time, i don't feel like cooking. i have other things i'd rather do.
I have the same issues because I'm doing the same thing with school you are.
The way I get around it is I cook on one day of the week for meals for the following week. And I make a lot of it, and freeze it. Then dinner is as simple as throwing something that's frozen into the fridge the night before.
You are a graduate student so cooking isn't a hobby, it's a necessity as it is the cheaper alternative to eating out or purchasing pre-made meals. I can make 2 weeks worth of food from $10 of meat.

I couldn't have married a girl that didn't know how to cook either
I had this discussion a while back with someone. It's surprising how many "women" can't cook for shite. They should be required to take 4 years of Home Ec in High School. IMO FWIW

While I was at LSU I lived in a dorm with no kitchen. I ate at Highland Cafeteria 3 times a day because it was free.

There are two different topics here, people who don't cook and people who don't know how to cook.
People who don't know how to cook amaze me, especially down here in Louisiana, where everything revolves around food. I know people who can burn water.
