Spoke to one of the vendors when I was walking my dog through there Tuesday. He told me they’re opening the doors tonight for the Hot Art Cool Nights event. It’s just for tonight though.

I really believe Mid City hasn't seen it's highest prices for homes and property. There's a real effort to get that area gentrified and hopping. I think it will be a great success if they keep pushing it the direction it's going. Eventually having mid city to downtown walk-able while pushing some of the ghetto further away will be great.

There used to be like 8 years ago, but all of the best ones went brick and mortar.

That's what I was saying in and earlier post. People aspiring to own a brick and mortar place should be picking up a food truck for a minimal investment.

Usually what happens is the ones who start the restaurants sell their food cart. The carts shouldn't be disappearing.

Don't be too sure of that. There's forces working to stop progress.

On the other hand, if the effort is too successful, locals worry about losing the idiosyncrasies that define Mid City, and about long-standing merchants and residents getting squeezed out, and about gentrification.

Meanwhile, Sanders is keeping an eye toward development. He hopes to increase the focus on the areas north of Florida Boulevard, embracing mixed-income housing in an effort to stem gentrification.

They won't let the area be completely devoid of Section 8 hoodrats.

Sampled every vendor
Beef Taco at Gov’t Taco
Something with delicious sauces, vegetables and tater tots from Chow Yum Phat
Blue cheese chargrilled oysters from Jolie
Gumbo from Fete au Fete
Boudin egg rolls and bread pudding from Southern Plate.
. All great. The only one not open was the Italian place. I think they open on Thursday

I stopped by last night as well. Love the concept, but damn could they use some sound dampening in there. Granted, it was a special event, but the noise hitched my step when I walked through the door

Anyway, likewise had the tater tot thing and a couple of tacos. All were good, and I can’t wait to hit up some ramen.

Had a good flow for how many people were there last night.

Not bad prices on the booze.

What is the point of putting the items that are out on the menu

I could see two reasons. One, it saves on formatting hassle. Two, it lets customers know that the wine is returning as opposed to be indefinitely removed from the menu. Or in the case of this being the brand new menu, that this item is coming soon.

There is a ticketed event on Wednesday night. I'd imagine it will be less slammed than they were on Friday.

Bump.

Now that it's open, what are everyone's thoughts?

Saw a post from Monday evening from one of the vendors. Every seat was occupied.
