Best Pokémon game

My nephew is getting a switch for xmas and I'm tasked with buying him a Pokémon game. Suggestions?

let's go pikachu is a remaster of the gen 1 stuff. sword/shield if he's into the new stuff. i'd pass on the latest release because it's supposed to be a buggy mess

Arceus is probably tops IMO, but it's a step up difficulty wise. How old is he? I'd think if he's 10 or under, go with Let's Go.

Scarlet and violet from a GAMEPLAY PERSPECTIVE are by far the best. But sweet Jesus is the performance bad. It's like playing trying to play the Witcher 3 on a ipod.

Another vote for Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee. Best pokemon game for kids hands down.

I haven't played it but I did play Pokemon crystal (gen 2) as a 6yo which is essentially an identical game from a gameplay perspective as the gen 1 games. Let's go Pikachu/evee is a remake of the gen 1 games. So by that information I don't see why it wouldn't be a good game for a 7 yo. I was playing ruby and Sapphire as a 7 yo and had no problem beating them whatsoever.
