There are also consumables that drop from dismantling legendary gear that give a core when defeating a named boss. Plus once your clan reaches max level, you can get a core per week per character there as well.
There are avenues for cores. I like the system as it forces you to think about what you spend your mats and cores on.

Yeah I’m alright with the core system. It’s a little annoying to have to wear your ugly shite just because of light level but it’s just the right amount of grind.
What’s not okay is the mod economy. If I didn’t have so many mods left over from y1, I don’t think I would have been able to purchase 1 mod yet.

. Mercury just doesn't have a lot of shite going on to do it efficiently. They also need to improve matchmaking on the well and for EP.

Yea I still don't know how to get new mods. I've dismantled armor that has a mod on it and am not getting a component. Doesn't seem to be anywhere to buy it.
I think with the masterworks core, they need to reduce to cost of using them. It should cost 3 to infuse a pulse rifle into another pulse rifle. I get having it be that cost to infuse a completely different weapon into one. Unless I get the same pulse rifle, it costs 3 cores. That is too high IMO.

You don't get components from dismantling y2 gear with mods. You get the mod. It's pretty rare to find gear with mods now. Banshee at tower sells two mods every day.
Be careful about what you infuse. There are enough drops for you to infuse the same named gun if you're a little patient. I started with over 200 cores and still have 200. Only thing I infuse is my coup, whisper, and sleeper. And I do it only when I find a weapon over 20 light levels higher if I don't have a suitable alternative.

Yeah that's the way to go right now. I'm only infusing Exotics when they fall behind the rest of the gear

Y1 gear does drop from a number of places. A consistent source are the raids.
Dismantling y2 gear DOES NOT give a mod component. It DOES give you the actual mod.

This hasn't happened. I dismantled a piece last night specifically for this purpose and didn't get the mod. Again, I'm perfectly willing to accept that I just got screwed on that gear, I'm just saying what happened.

I've never had a y2 piece of gear with a mod not give me the mod when dismantled. Not saying it didn't happen to you, just saying I have not experienced that.

Then I'll just chalk it up to something funky going on yesterday. Had a couple weird things happen with their servers yesterday so it is completely possible. I had zero mods in my inventory and dismantled it because I was trying to use the mod on another piece of gear, but it gave me nothing. Just got gunsmith and legendary shards.
