Thats why you didn't get anything. You have to beat one of the four sections to get gear.

Just made it to level 263 and the raid is available. Around what level should I get to before trying? Haven't done a nightfall yet. Beat all the D1 raids except the last SIVA one.

I wouldn't go in until you're at the very least 270. You probably will be a liability in the Calus encounter if you aren't 280.

We only did the area with the staves and then went into the calus room. Got a single chest with some stuff but that was the end of that.
Why in the frick would you get something for not beating anything

What he said. If you have a strong team they can overcome your damage drop-off if you can stay alive though. We took a 272 into throne room with us strictly to punch psions. Still smacked the boss real quick. Team throne room all day! I never want to stay in suck zone.... Ever!

Made it to 291 last night, but I still haven't beat Calus. Every LFG I run with gives it like 5 runs then everyone bounces. I need to try to do it tonight before the reset, but I don't think its gonna happen.
Might just run the raid fresh again this week after milestones, and get some more raid gear and Calus tokens.

If you understand the encounter, you'll figure out in probably the first 2-3 runs if the group you're with is going to clear it or not.
If it's miniscule mistakes that people are owning up to and giving actual reasons why they died instead of, "WHAT THE frick, THAT'S SUCH bullshite" it's a good sign. Every time I've LFG'ed for the raid in the past game and this raid, if there's no progress in 30 minutes then it's likely you should bounce.
No reason in just trying for hours if it clearly isn't going to work.

I made a warlock over the weekend and am at level 10 with it.
Once the reset is in, I'll go back to my hunter and try to level up past 290. If I do, I'll be ready to try the raid.
I keep getting asked if I have experience with a certain part of the raid. I don't. So I don't get invited (I did get invited once and tried the Baths portion, but didn't complete it).
Question:
Is it so hard that you must have some people with experience or you can't do it? Because that just doesn't sound fun.

shite isn't hard at all. People want others to know exactly what they are doing so either they can get carries or simply do not have the knowledge to lead.

That's what I don't get too. The raid has only been out for 2 weeks.
These groups expect everyone to be an expert on it already.

Does anyone else feel like hunters are vastly inferior to titans and warlocks in PvP? Either that, or I'm just not very good at this game.

I think Mystery said they are very underpowered in PVP, but I swear I'm usually on a team with at least two other Hunters, so maybe it's the "noob" class or something, but it's definitely popular.

Hunters specials are pretty shite for PVP, and the only viable PvP ability they get is the invis on dodge, which means you have to play with the most useless super of all time.
Plus, titans get the shield wall and warlocks get the healing bubble thing, which have actual uses in trials.
Either I'm doing something wrong or they are crazy bad in PvP.

Hunters are popular. Always will be I think.
But they are at a disadvantage in PVP.
You can be really effective if you run the nighstalker build with invis dodge but then your super is bad.
Golden Gun is a good super but then you have a pretty bad neutral game.
The arc subclass does have arcbolt grenades which is good but it is probably the worst pvp super in the game.
The dodge is not the same dodge from D1, no invincibility frames.
Then you have warlock.
Arc and Void warlocks are both really strong, in but super and neutral game.
Oh plus I can put down a healing rift that makes team shooting lanes great for the team.
Titan
Striker titan may be the best class right now. Double pulse grenades, a super that can be used as a panic, a shutdown or a roaming super.
And the wall can be very useful to cover flanks and to get a rez.

But I am just talking about the meta. If you have fun using the hunter don't feel like you should switch. If you practice enough you will have success no matter what your class is.
I feel like I get dominated by a nightsalker with last hope more than any other class. But you rarely run into somebody skilled enough to run that class great.

Warlocks are OP in both PvP and PvE. Their rift ability is too good.
Titans are decent at both also. Just very situational.
Hunters besides CNight Goldengun have been regulated to uselessness.

I feel like I'm hitting a Destiny wall. I'm power level 268, and it has been slow going at best towards raising my light level. I've been grinding public events, but I only ever get purple engrams that are 265.
I already have an exotic armor piece and weapon that are both 270.
I don't really have "a group" to run raids with, so I feel like it's time to put the controller down until the next expansion, because I am not addicted to this game's PvP.

I like the PvP, but I really don't like not being able to pick a gametype. I generally like all of the ones I've played so far, but I'd like to have the option if I just feel like playing Clash, I can pick Clash.

You shouldn't be hitting a wall. Tomorrow will be reset of all the Milestones. Crucible, Flashpoint, Night Fall, and Clan will all net you engrams that will most likely be above your current power level.
Keep fighting guardian.

Yeah I thought I was stuck at 279, but after the reset and milestones I was able to get to 285. Did some raiding and nightfall this weekend and got to 291. If you need to find people just use LFG. Gotta keep pushing.
