I think the decryption got fricked up with the update yesterday. It was a noticeable change last night.

I went Orbit this morning, but probably going to change to war cult for that scout rifle and pulse rifle they have. Orbit stuff didn't look great. Orbit will probably win this week though if I had to guess.

Will there be a rally every week? Can we expect weekly discounts on weapons if we elect the winning faction?

I think that is the plan, but not 100% sure.

Faction vendors will stay. The rally event will not.

You can join one faction per character, so you'll always win.

I read that the winning faction weapon will cost 1,000 glimmer and the losing will cost 50,000.

F that.

Do you have 3 characters that have finished the main story? If so this is a non issue. Just sign up for all 3. Then whoever wins you go buy it for 1000.

Not that 50000 glimmer is that tough to come by.

I still have a few weapons at light level 265 hoping to level them up (Uriel's Gift). If I stash them, will that help?

Nope. Bungie looks across all inventory for a character (guns on all characters, equipped and unequipped, as well as in the vault PLUS all possible armor for that character across all inventories and vault) to calculate highest possible base light level

Hmm. I have some low level stuff in there because I had no idea what I was doing at first.

I had to blow basically all of my glimmer and mods making purple mods to get where I am. The only reason I got past 278 last night was mods from gunsmith packages which got me over 280 so I could craft mods, and that finally got me somewhere.

Everything's dropping at 273 instead of 270 now

I'm at 295 now. Got some exotic boots that I infused up to 299. Gonna raid this weekend and get to 300.

PS4? If so, we need to be friends so you can "guide" me.

I'm gonna give the guided Nightfall a shot, maybe tomorrow.

I don't think that's true. I've got a warlock that's at 263. I've been stashing a few guns here and there for my Titan once he gets to level 20. Why wouldn't I be getting 260+ drops on my Titan if that were the case?

I need to get in on a nightfall one day this week.

It is true.

And the answer to your question is you don't have "possible armor" that is high. Warlock armor is not titan armor. Therefore you will not be at an average base power of 260. But you will still get a big bump because of your guns when you hit lv 20.

It has been explained way too many times in this thread but this is how drops work. I will not include plus 5 mods.

Blue engrams have a soft cap of 260.
Normal purple engrams have a soft cap of 265.
Luminous engrams have a hard cap of 300.
Powerful gear has a hard cap of 300.
Yellow engrams have a hard cap of 300.

You can only get luminous engrams/powerful gear from the weeklies. Nightfall, Trials, Flashpoints, Call to Arms, Clan Rewards, Raid are your weeklies.

Now what is a soft cap and why do blues and purples always seem to drop 5-10 power lower than my power lv? That is because once you reach the soft cap with your base power, you will start to see that those items drop below your base power. They will get lower and lower as you get higher until they max out at being 5 power below your base. Which means they can actually drop higher than their cap but only because your base power is dragging them up. Why did I just get one 8 below then? Because you had +5 mods in your items and your actual base power is not as high as your effective power. Base power does not take into account your mods.

So stop banging your heads thinking I am getting crap drops. Bottom line is once you get to 265 or 270 with mods, the only way to get higher is weeklies, yellows or the 4 exotic weapon quest chains.

I heard the luminous engrams can change every 30 minutes.
