My career golfer is in the Korn Ferry tour right now and there is no practice round option. So far that's the only thing that I wish was in the game (I'm sure that list will grow over time).
Unless it's something that is added when you make the PGA tour? If not then I'll probably have to do a play now round at each course prior to the start of a tournament.
It's certainly not ideal but a workaround if you really just wanted to work on something...
Just go into quick play, get your ball where you want it, meaning a drive off the tee, off the green to work on chip shots, etc.
Then turn auto mulligans ON, and you can just do a mulligan after each shot and keep hitting those shots.
Again, super annoying to not just have the practice mode but if you want to just get out and hit drive after drive or whatever, this is at least a way to still do that.

I can’t seem to get my downswing to even come close to the right speed. No matter how fast I think I’m and slinging the stick forward, it is always like a 2% slow swing. I don’t know what the damn deal is.
From there, you can change your swing tempo, I go with slowest. It basically means your downswing(up on the analog) can be slower to get a perfect downswing.
I had the same issue as you at first, wanted to throw the controller through the TV lol. It defaults to fast or fastest which is just wayyyyy too fast. Slowest works best for me.

Oh man, this might be a game changer. I'm gonna try this tonight.

If you're having the issue where you're pushing up on the analog so hard you think you're gonna break it, and you go to that setting and you see it at FAST or FASTEST, trust me when I tell you immediately before you even hit a ball, you can be confident that this is the issue.
I had the same exact thing, I was fricking crushing that up on the R analog lol. Still getting 2% or more slow on every single downswing. For the life of me, I don't understand why Fast or Fastest is even a setting, I can't see how anyone would play like that.
Set it to SLOWEST, and you're good to go.

I’m sure some of y’all may already do this but when it comes to putting remember where your preset distance is set at and then bring your arrow all the way right in front of you directly on the path trajectory. Once you’ve done then just go straight out to whatever your preset distance was set at from the beginning. Not saying you’ll make all your puts, but that has been a game changer for me.

If you use the ai pairing, where they show you with another golfer it puts you going out at whatever tee time they go out on. I’m guessing the AI pairs you with the highest ranked player they have rights to have in the game.
I had it turned on as I was curious how the AI would play holes and wanted to see how some of these scores they get happen. The AI misses 2-3 putt at least once around.

Anyone else seeing lots of variation from round to round in your scores?
I'm very much an average golfer on EA and 2k. I played a ton of 2k and it felt like it got a bit stale in that I was always shooting roughly the same scores, somewhere between -3 and +3, but almost never outside of that window and if I played a course twice my score would probably always be roughly within 2 shots of round 1.
Maybe it's that the game is new and this fun variation won't last but my scores are all over the place with my created dude and his low ratings....and I mean this in a good way.
It started with the US Open as an amateur. I was +6 on the front 9, finished +4. Then in round 2, I shot a -6. Then the last couple of rounds I leveled out around par. But lots of very good and some very bad as well.
Move on to the PGA tour, 2nd tourney I think is at Torrey Pines. I shoot -3 in round 1, with cut line at +2 going into round 2. I'm even on the front 9, so 5 shots ahead and already making my weekend dinner plans in lovely La Jolla California for the rest of the tourney. On the back 9, I shot 3 pars and 6 bogeys, and I just couldn't stop the bleeding, finishing +3 and missing the cut.
Very next tourney at Pebble Beach, I've only played the 1st 9 holes so far, but I'm -3 and legit missed about 3 more 7-8 birdie putts that barely missed. Just played absolutely awesome, 9 holes after shooting a +6 on the back 9 the previous tourney.

I have noticed that I can get very streaky and go from -9 or so to almost par.
Last tourny I was even through like 7 or 8 and then ran off 8 birdies in a row.
I have rounds where I’m sticking shots within feet of the pin and others where almost every approach runs off the green forcing a scramble.

Putting without the guide line is just so fricking difficult. I miss so many putts by 1-3 inches. I go can go tee to green within 12-15 ft pretty easily at this point but I find it damn near impossible to actually sink putts outside of 5 ft or so

I make a ton of pars with the occasional birdie on a 5 and bogey on a longer/tougher 4. So I'm almost always between 1 under or 2 over or so. Which isn't unrealistic for sure but my rounds and even holes just seem to be cookie cutter.
Bomb drive down the middle
Iron or wedge to 15 feet
Miss putt by a few inches
Tap in for par
Occasionally I 3 putt for bogey (or miss the green on a tough pin location and bogey) and I will usually birdie the 5's when I reach in 2. But I wish there were sliders to make driving/approach accuracy tougher and putting easier. I don't think I've made a putt outside 10 feet since I turned the line off in probably 10 rounds or so, and I rarely have to make a tough shot from a weird lie

Has anyone playing on PC noticed a huge jump in GPU load after the most recent patch? game is running constantly 100% GPU load now. I haven't noticed much issues while playing, but that was a huge jump.

Torrey Pines actually had a few holes where I missed inside 3 foot putts. I shot -2 for round 1 and then round 2 I went low, round 3 -1 and round 4 I ended up -8 to put the tourny away. The tough courses on here play really well. That -8 round had some long birdie putts.

EA did such a better job on mapping courses than 2k and the in-depth comments on each hole crushes 2k.
I get 2k couldn’t get the courses and majors. They went the low comment route and just a shite ton of variety.
2k did get the putting right by having putt preview that just shows the current line and you having to adjust vs EA giving the correct line

I’m slowly working the computer ai up. It feels like the game has some momentum and you can get on runs. I put down 8 birdies in a row on the way to a 58 at pebble beach.

Training mode is the Challenge mode, which also unlocks a lot of points, do, accessories.

This is why i'll avoid this game. Shooting 58 at Pebble shouldn't be a thing.

You can play on simulation mode and guaranteed a 58 is not happening on any course.
