But regardless, those games are brilliant. I don't like comparing them to Soulsborne games because they're really different, but the Nioh and Soulsborne franchises are all amazing in their own right.

Depends on if you've done the capital yet. After the capital, lot more shite to do, including a rather well hidden region.
I've done Nokron and Nokstella as well. The capital is next on my list.

how do I access torrent and the wolf from pouch without having to open menu to get to pouch?

map the pouch items to the D-pad. after that, hold the event action button and hit the corresponding d-pad button (was triangle for me, but I swapped it with x/jump since the other Souls games all used x for the event action button).
for me:
hold x, left d-pad for Torrent
hold x, right d-pad for jelly fish summons
hold x, down d-pad for *insert other summons here*

I finally beat him last night, used the cheese scarlet rot method because he seemed almost impossible with my melee build.
His armor is awesome though, really enjoying how it looks compared to what I had previously.
Same. I had to go and do "rebirth" to reallocate some points over to faith so that I could use the Rotten Breath incantation. Allocated my flasks to 7 blue/4 red and focused the early part of the fight on getting in some hits with my +14 pickaxe. Followed that up with a mixture of respawing my team of NPC summons and getting in a Rotten Breath attack.
Going straight melee (on the horse), there were many times that I was able to get him down to 1 or 2 hits remaining for the kill, but I had such a hard time getting in there for the last hits. He seemed to always hone in on my arse and make it impossible to get the hit or respawn the NPCs that were dead. With Rotten Breath, I was riding around at a distance respawning a couple of dead friends and the surviving NPCs actually killed him for me. It ended up being very anti climactic.

Coming up on the endgame. I’ve taken out all the shardbearer demigods and I’ve explored the bulk of the world.
Gonna do some googling about things I may have missed and do some general housekeeping related to important missable items before I start the final approach.

Smart move. I've only played a couple of Souls games, and both times I screwed up and didn't take care of the housekeeping shite before fighting the boss. As we all know, they send you straight to NG+ after you beat the final boss.

Yup. Pissed me off because I totally missed Eleanor's twinblade that I wanted bad. Thankfully I just have to get to the academy again to get it.

Exceptions obviously include questlines relevant to the ending.

oh nice, that's good to hear. DS1 just straight up rolled to credits if I remember correctly.

DeS, DS1, and Bloodborne send you directly to NG+, but DS2, DS3, and Sekiro give you the option to go to NG+ or stay in NG after the final boss.

Anyone else having problems with this game crashing on PC? I am exploring Leyndel and it has been crashing way more frequently.

My 15 year old bought this about a week ago. I hear him raging upstairs from time to time.
He asked me if I wanted to buy it to. I'm thinking about it.

You should. The game is phenomenal.

Just beat the final boss. Holy cow, took me a good 5 hours to finally beat the bastard

I beat the boss on Friday. Been going around exploring and trying to do any side quests I missed that are still active.
This game is so vast. I was pretty thorough and I still managed to miss a few things.
Thankfully most npc questlines are pretty forgiving. I’ve only broken a handful so far.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. That lines up timeframe wise with the capital region, so may be something with that.

this game is so much damned fun and has lived up to the immense hype for me...which doesn't happen much .
Finally beat Radahn sometime last week which enabled me to really start advancing through the main story. Got what I think will ultimately be my primary strength weapon (Ruins Greatsword) and have it up to +9 paired with my current strength of 58. Won't be able to hit the max of +10 until I get up into the mountains and find a dragon somber smithing stone.
I struggled to beat the pair of gargoyles bosses in one of the underground cities for a while and ultimately went to do some other shite. Came back after a massive upgrade with the new sword and obliterated them in no time. Now I'm going around and trying to take care of some other shite that I left incomplete before going into the capital. Actually ventured in there already after beating the draconic tree sentinel guarding the side door and made it down to this room with 3 or 4 enemies that I've struggled to clear, so I left to do something else.
The best part of this game is definitely the ability to pivot and do other things when you get stuck. Can't really say the same for the other souls games.

Are we running any group passwords for the various platforms on this board?
There is a new group feature that might be of some use. Works like passwords.
We should set up a group phrase for each platform so people can coop. Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I'm about 30 hours in on a STR and DEX build. I'm kind of regretting doing a melee build, but it's too late for me to start over.
I'm struggling with finding smiting stones to upgrade my weapons. In Dark Souls at some point you can buy them. Can you buy them here?
And yes, I like the idea of doing group passwords.
