snowfield is optional. have to visit Castle Sol to complete the medallion to access the lift to get there. hence why i asked if you planned on doing it

It's not that bad if you're properly leveled. Getting down the tree into the actual level and boss area is a pain in the arse. You need some range.
It's a pretty killer area though. One of the games best IMO and reminiscent of DS3 type DLC.
