getting annoyed i can't pet boomer to acquire him as a pet, the mission says pet but there's no interaction when I walk up to him.

I've had this type of stuff happen before. Go into manage game and see if they all downloaded. They may still be needing to be installed. I've had this happen with pre-downloads before. The game installed but the bundle packages stayed in the queue

Ive never played any Far Cry games. I keep seeing the commercial for the new one. What is the premise of the game? I am use to playing Sandbox type games on PC. FPS on Xbox.
Is this game worth buying? Should I hold out for a few weeks?

ive played 3 and 4. adventure type games with really cool scenery and decent storylines. Id call it a more lighthearted GTA with better weapons. Mostly linear storylines with a few exceptions. Entertaining, but not worth buying brand new IMO.

Haven't been able to start this one, but the premise of all the Far Cry games is you and usually a small group of people are taking a trip somewhere, and you crash or something happens and you are stranded there. This one is set in like Montana or one of the Dakotas or something. There is a crazy religious cult in charge of everything, and they are obsessed with purging everyone of their sins.
The game looks absolutely gorgeous. You'll be entertained just exploring. The games all have a similar structure. You will be able to upgrade your character's abilities and get new weapons (like grappling hook and wingsuit
). You usually can hunt animals to upgrade like ammo capacity and stuff like that. There will be strongholds you'll need to take down to liberate parts of the map and gain access for the rebels to be around to help you out when needed.
Everything I've seen so far looks like it is a pretty solid game.

Far Cry 3 & 4 were well worth 60 IMO. I got a ton of hours of enjoyment out of them. As I said, I haven't been able to start this one yet, just been watching streamers. I can answer that better when I've played some.
