Didn't the NFLPA do this years ago to the madden franchise? So EA put out a version one year of just generic teams/names in the actual cities or general areas they played in?
What happened recently is that the NFLPA signed an exclusive contract with EA. That's why there is no more competing NFL 2K series games, and you have All Pro Football and NFL Blitz games that don't feature current NFL players and teams.

why the hell would he even be pissed that they "supposedly" did this? Because his ratings in the game sucked, just like he did in real life?

I'm guessing the defense attorney's first response was, "Sam who?"

I saw this in the paper today.
It seems like this case has legs. They get these players down to a tee, including hairstyle. After his transfer they switched him and the only reason they didnt get his number right was because they didnt get that info in time.
The NCAA might as well be part of the government they are so hypocritical, but the gamer in me wants the lawsuit to fail for obvious reasons.
The greatest question would be damages. EA has been replicating the almost identical characteristics of players for about 15 years for football and basketball. Another interesting question is often times they are wrong on characteristics or stats of certain players. Quite a can o' worms.

they actually mess up lots of numbers and grade class, they also never have the correct home town

Yeah, when I used to try to manually name a roster I would get so confused as to who was who once I got past the starters. The heights, weights, years, numbers, positions, even skin color are often way off.
