I have the S3. Never owned an Iphone so Its hard to compare, but I do have an Ipod Touch and I think the interfaces are similair.
The larger screen is great on the S3. The biggest difference I see is the "back" button on the S3 in addition to a home button makes navigating between panes or programs much smoother.
Everything else depends on preference and what your use to. I think the android is an easier platform to navigate and do what i want, but I use it much more than the Apple stuff.

I have sprint...unlimited data FTMFW!
Im not a big techie.
Things that are important to me are Camera, Browsing speed, Phone call quality, Screen quality for video clips etc.
Im leaning iPhone at the moment because most sites rate the camera better on the iPhone. Although the s3 has more camera option.
I owned a Evo 3d and it was a decent phone. Really liked the swype text feature. Had some bugs but it was reallly fast.

Well the wife just sent her iPhone5 back to apple bc of a faulty camera.
The only thing great about that phone seems to be battery life.
The s3 is ahead in every other class

I have AT&T with unlimited data
But consumer report rates the s3 very highly. Second among all smartphones (droid razer first). The iphone 5 was somewhere in the middle

If you like old school gaming go with the S3. Droid marketplace doesn't have the restrictions that apple has so you can get an Emulator on the S3

If the camera and photos are a big deal for you, I would go with the S3. It isn't mentioned very much, but google's implementation of G+ instant upload and picasa web albums beats the brakes off photo stream.
The larger screen is great too

Wife has an iPhone but broke her iPad. Been using my Note 10.1 and she really can't tell the difference since I put Doubletwist for her iTunes on it. There are a few other things she likes better, i.e. automatically updating apps, picasa web albums, flash, etc. Few things she doesn't like is the aspect ratio, no button, facebook app isn't as good, etc. All in all it is a wash.
If you have a Roku there is a new channel called twonky that will work like airplay and works with android and apple products.
