Survivor is getting blasted on Steam for the Xbox and PC performance. Some are saying its only playable on PS5.

Outside of a couple of bosses, combat isn't nearly as difficult as a Souls game. And there is essentially no "mob jumped out at you and killed you instantly because frick you" bullshite. When I say it's vaguely Souls-like, I mean that you need to think defensively and get your hits in when it's safe, because if you try to "overwhelm" even a basic enemy by aggressively attacking, they are going to make you regret it.
ETA: And that last bit is even more reason to spend a few days on FO and let them sort out that bullshite

Agreed with poster above. It's Souls-like but toned down. Telegraphed swings, defend, attack. Looking forward to playing this one!

I’m getting killed ALOT.
While the map is better than Fallen Order, I still don’t like it. I don’t need everything to be a maze where you have to constantly pull the map up. The objectives are not intuitive enough, I’m having to Google walkthroughs on some things. The amount of parkour and level of difficulty to it is annoying as well. Those are my complaints, but still enjoying it.

I bought it on PC.
It feels like a Nintendo emulator with the awful controls, primarily within the settings menu. Gameplay is whatever, but something as simple as adjusting the volume I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how to move the slider and only did it once accidentally, which I wasn’t able to then recreate.
Also had some random freezes which cause restarts and loss of progress since last saves.

I actually just watched a video of a guy bitching that you hit enter to activate the setting, then use A and D on the keyboard to change the setting, then hit enter again to lock it in. That’s fricking awful

Thanks for the clarity, I should have fricking known they went with the standard A / D to adjust this. Silly me.

Haha yup. Dude tried clicking, right and left arrows, etc. And right before he said it, I mentally said "oh tell me those dumb fricks didn't use WASD for their menu..." and yup

While it sounds like it’s running best on PS5, I would probably still wait unless I was just dying to play this. Just pick a game in your backlog and go play that. Look at this again once you’re done.

I have a couple of hours of Fallen Order in. The mechanics aren't bad. The puzzles were somewhat challenging for me. I did them but took a hint from BD on one. I'm going to play it through but won't get Survivor until I finish FO.

I think you're going to enjoy it. It's by no means a perfect game, but it's solid and well worth playing.

For those playing on PC: I'm seeing some early chatter that the primary, or at least significant, reason for the performance issues is some poor coding resulting in poor CPU utilization which is causing an artificial CPU bottleneck. If you're seeing low framerates and low GPU utilization, this is probably your issue. It would also explain why changing graphics settings, including resolution, might have zero impact. Just a heads up for those who might be banging their heads against the wall trying to find a magic graphics setting combination to solve the issue. You're just going to have to wait for a fix (which hopefully comes at some point).
