The side op missions are getting so monotonous. Once I finish, I don't think I'll replay it again.

I'm starting to have the same problem with this that I have with other mission-based games.

games like this are 1 time things for me. i do every single thing possible and make the most out of that 1 experience
i prefer the 12-15 hour, tight, refined experiences with lots of variation and replayability, myself
open world needs to die. this game wouldve benefited from about 15 or so missions dropping you into mini sandboxes while retaining the cinematic feel of the other games

Yeah, this open world boom that's going on in the gaming industry isn't a good thing. It's like every company thinks making it open world will be better when some games just aren't meant to be like that.
I miss the MGS games that have a lot of indoor infiltration. The Phantom Pain is pretty much all outdoors with the only decent base being OKB.

With all of its content, it still manages to feel the most empty of the franchise. Linear has become a slur, and I think some devs and publishers are too scared of making a $60 game without open world elements.

Well the attitude sure changed quickly. A bunch of fickle women in here

I love this game, I'm still playing. I do enjoy the open world, it's a nice change to the series (that most people hated for being linear and too cut-sceney: both things addressed in this game)
I'm just not sure open world lends it self well to the MGS we all know and love. I love the game but I HATE that this is the last installment.

I love the open world. I think it would greatly benefit from some indoor environments though.

Was there ever any word of a DLC down the line?
Posted on 9/21/15 at 8:01 pm to SundayFunday
No word on DLC. With the Konami-Kojima divorce, we the kids are left out most likely.
I enjoy the open world, but a little more linearity would have helped. Only thing that bugs me is the story was not finished. It's clear they rushed the ending and that's disappointing. I watched one of the cut episodes on the DVD extra...it was kind of a big deal and was left out. Not sure where the blame lies, but it sucks.

Doesn't Sony/Columbia own the movie rights? Could SCE-America parlay that into owning all the rights like Nintendo did with Sega's properties when they went under?

I couldn't pretend to know the answer to that, LOL.
I find it intriguing that there's a lot of rumors swirling about a chapter 3 and/or hidden content. Usually I brush it off, but then I remember Kojima saying he would do something in TPP that couls only be done in video games. If not, I'm genuinely surprised that Kojima left the story off where he did.

Late to the party. Love the game. The gameplay was some of the best I've ever experienced. The ending left so much to be desired. The filler missions in chapter 2 and the deleted mission 51 just makes you wonder what could have been.
So sad.

Encouraged and excited to play. It sounds like I wasn't the only one pulling my hair for that introduction to fricking end already and reading online I wasn't the only one with that loading bug after the intro.
According to the inter webs I'm in for a completely awesome bug free experience moving forward
The first mission didn't really give me the freedom and choice I'm looking forward to but I realize you gotta become acclimated to controls

To me, the first 30 missions were pretty fun. Lot of grinding in the side ops, unfortunately. It was more fun infiltrating areas when I didn't have amazeballs equipment.
I ended up turning off marking, but left reflex on on e my equipment was OP. Makes it much tougher.

You'll have much more freedom once you start to accumulate weapons, tools, costumes, etc. It's not the best story in the franchise, but the gameplay, diversity and attention to detail is top notch.

Game is going to shite. Repeats of old missions with total stealth or harder difficulty? Are you shitting me?
The total stealth missions are pure bullshite. Exercises in trial and error
Reeks of being rushed to completion without Kojima's direction

Yeah, the game is very rushed. It would be so much better if it were more focused and cut down to 25-30 missions. It should have ended after the first act.
