That's what I thought anyway.
San Andreas refers to the general region, which was composed of 3 cities and their surrounding areas -
Los Santos (LA)
San Fierro (San Francisco)
Las Venturas (Las Vegas)

Wasn't one of the main characters of one of the stories game a brother/relative of tommy? I never played them but I thought I remembered reading that.
It's also rumored from an article I posted in the first gta5 thread that we may play multiple characters

guys, i didn't think about this til now, but it could be the guy from GTA3. it was based in the 90s so he couldn't much older now if he was in his late 20s early 30s. only thing about that guy is that he didn't have a name nor a voice. he just went around shaking his head. like a boss.

holy crap i forgot about that. san andreas was based in the 90s too so it was around the same time period. i remember that race now. but you're right. there are better character.

I just got a chance to check out the trailer. Holy Hell that game looks awesome! Did you see the scale of the landscape? It wasn't just a mountain, it was a mountain range. And the speed that the jet was going indicates it's going to be a huge map. I can't wait for this game.
GTA IV was a let down for me. I quit playing it half-way through and went back to playing San Andreas. I was not a fan of being limited to Liberty City. I much prefer the openness of San Andreas.

Yea Claude made an appearance in San Andreas with Catalina before they moved to Liberty City (GTAIII).

Its scary how much we think alike. That was exactly my thoughts as i watched the trailer. The scale of the mountains screams HUGE game world. Then i saw that jet zooming by and thought....holy shite this map has to be huge or else you would cross it in that jet in a few seconds. Also, if jets are in the game doesnt that hint strongly to multiple cities? Cant land a jet just anywhere so you would need multiple airports or else you would just be taking off and landing in the same spot every time. Does multiple airports = cities?

It's been confirmed that the setting is San Andreas.

One thing. Las Ventures nor San Fiero were in the trailer, but at the end it shows a jet coming from over the mountains towards downtown Los Santos. It's what's over those mountains that has me hoping its LV and or SF.

I hope so. Coming over the real Hollywood sign, you've got San Jose, Then SF. Also, you've got the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Maybe they go to Tahoe? Shot in the dark.

Well basically what the article says is that there wont be any physical discs of the game. It will be on store shelves but it will just be a box with a download code in it. I call bullshite.

I'd imagine that cutting out the cost for getting physical copies in the stores would up the profit margin. This sort of thing works for arcade games though, a big release like GTA would destroy PSN and XBL.
