The Wii controller was just great for Metroid though. When you go back and play the old controls, they're a bit of a pain in the arse to hold the R button. Just rotating the camera with the remote feels incredible, and no other game on the Wii got close to it.
The flaw with the Wii remote is switching between visors and beams, and it can take some time.
Wii U wasn't as good of a controller as either of those were for Metroid.
This seems to mold them perfectly together though. It takes the best parts of the GameCube and Wii controllers. It just reeks of making a great Metroid game. Kind of like the N64 was custom made for Mario 64 and the GameCube controller was custom made for Smash Bros, this seems like it is custom made for Metroid Prime.

looks like best buy charged my card for the full 299.99, but i think that's a preauthorization.

Sorry, but Metroid Prime Trilogy is a rare collectors item these days and didn't think you played it on that.

About to head to sleep, but the biggest mistake Nintendo made today was: no mention of the next monster hunter - talk about a console mover in Japan

This. I thought there were strong rumors with this too.
Heading to bed myself. Guess I play the amazon game in the morning.

Capcom was completely absent, which is weird because they've been prominently featured for years. Even in the darkest days of Wii/Wii U, Capcom was still making games for Nintendo platforms.
Switch event was pretty bad, but a lot of info they released after made it a bit better (some worse, like how can it only have 32GB of storage. Why is voice chat through a smartphone app, etc). It would have been impossible to meet the hype though. Nintendo people who will buy anything for new Zelda are happy b/c new Zelda looks great. People who wanted more from Nintendo are disappointed. I personally hope Vita 2 does well.

Nintendo still did not discuss Switch‘s innards during its launch details reveal event, but it did tell us a little bit about the hardware in general.
The Switch has a 6.2? multi-touch screen which displays up to 1280×720 resolution. Around the edge of the Switch screen you’ll find a brightness sensor and a pair of speakers.
Around the edge of the Switch is the power and volume buttons, the headphone jack and game card slot, and the docking rail. As a reminder, the Switch is a hybrid system which docks for use with screens, but unplugged and in portable mode it has a battery life of three to six and a half hours.
The console has 32GB internal storage, but you can expand this with a microSDXC card. You’ll definitely want one of those to install Skyrim, we imagine.

Nintendo Switch Online Service is a new paid online service similar to Xbox Live and PlayStation Plus, which promises online gaming, voice chat and free games, Nintendo has announced.
"This service lets Nintendo Switch owners enjoy online multiplayer gaming as well as a dedicated smartphone app that connects to your Nintendo Switch system and helps you connect with friends for online play sessions," explains Nintendo.
Online Play on Nintendo Switch: You’ll be able to play compatible co-op and competitive games online by signing in with your Nintendo Account. Online play will be free for Nintendo Account holders until our paid online service launches in fall 2017. Most games will require a paid online service subscription from Nintendo in order to play online.
Online lobby and voice chat: Our new dedicated smart device app will connect to Nintendo Switch and let you invite friends to play online, set play appointments, and chat with friends during online matches in compatible games-all from your smart device. A free, limited version of this app will be available for download in summer 2017.
Monthly game download: Subscribers will get to download and play a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) or Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Super NES) game (with newly-added online play) for free for a month.Exclusive deals: Special offers for subscribers may include discounts on select digital games and content.
Nintendo stresses that standard online features such as system and game updates will remain free to all Switch users. The table below shows what is free and what isn't. Nintendo hasn't said how much the service will cost.
Furthermore, it sounds like those outside of the Americas won't have access to the paid online service at launch.
"The paid online service will be available in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico only at launch," states Nintendo.

That's not a big selling point for me. Even before I got married, any time I purchased a portable gaming system I played it for maybe a month tops and then rarely touched it. Now especially I don't game unless I'm home. I know mobile gaming is big and they are smart to integrate it with the home console, but that's not my thing. Plus, that battery life doesn't sound ideal at all for someone who would put a lot of time into mobile gaming.

f-ing amazon.
I hope this isn't another Wii debacle where it took me 6 months to get one.

I think they plan on shipping at least 20 at launch, so cross your fingers.
Watching some stuff on the battery life of the portable version, for example, a game like Zelda, with a full charge, will last about 3 hours.
Mario Kart releasing in April.
Splatoon 2 in the summer.
