Docked Breath of the Wild plays at 1080p 60 FPS. Undocked is 720p at 60 FPS.
Word from the event from people who got to play the demo that it was playing, at most, at 30 fps and kind of unstable.

It could be an unfinished build, perhaps. Maybe they are working furiously to get it optimized for the launch and felt they had to show something. Who knows.

The game will run at 30 FPS but the demo that people played seems to be an older build. The demo shown off by the demonstrators, which seems to be the full game, runs perfectly.
Also, I absolutely love the music in this game. The guardian theme is great, it just sounds so frantic and menacing.

Just watched the first 17 mins of game play for BOtW. Wow, I'm pretty sure I'm getting the Switch even for it alone.

People hating on stuff like ARMS should watch the gameplay video:

That looks way cool actually. And again, more unique than probably anything anyone else is doing. Even if it isn't that good, at least they are trying to do something new.

Pre-ordered for my son at Game Stop yesterday they had different packages than what we're online - the store I went to was allocated 25 grey models and a few of the zelda. They had about 20 games you could precisely order as well.

Can you imagine what would happen if Nintendo dropped a bomb on the gaming industry by releasing a new home console without some dumb niche concept that took advantage of the latest hardware the generation had to offer with a new Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, and Mario game ready to launch with it? That's the potential punch Nintendo has but they refuse to take advantage of that. It's frustrating.
I don't think massive success here is as sure a thing as people want this to be. People are married to their friends on the PS or Xbox. The kind of person who mainly plays modern 3rd party FPS/open world games who would suddenly purchase a new equally powered Nintendo system without Gears of War or God of War or Unchartered are a minority, and probably not a bigger audience than those who Nintendo is pursuing with a more affordable console focused on a more casual audience.
However, I do agree that it's frustrating to be in this position because I hate owning multiple consoles and I really think other 3rd parties could be as creative if Nintendo could curate the casual population better.
The Wii was a success, mostly, for Nintendo, but 3rd parties got left behind. And there WERE some great, innovative 3rd party games on that unit that just weren't as successful.
Boom Blox, Little King Story, Zack and Wiki, Trauma Center (ok this was pretty successful), etc.
Every single one of those games is more creative, more innovative than probably every modern 3rd party game right now. All used unique controls to do something cool. And they probably cost far less to develop. Granted the success wasn't there, and that's sad.
I really hope the Switch can be successful AND open up that market again, because those are actually interesting, high quality games that separate themselves from the pack.
I'm not sure I'd be excited if we got great Nintendo first party games+all of the same rote 3rd party games that everyone is making. That's where I hope the Switch can be the bridge, Great Indie games+unique 3rd party games and smaller experiments+Nintendo stretching it's legs on first party+continuation of the 3DS library.
It's also why I hate the "Nintendo as 3rd Party" idea. Firstly, I don't think Nintendo will be successful when they lose control of the process itself. Secondly, "Yay, I get to buy another Microsoft or Sony console with pretty much a standard library of over-produced, achievement infested, open world and/or FPS games with the occasional arena/multiplayer type game with few REAL gems, and I get Nintendo 1st party games too."
Much of the creativity, or the push to do something different would be gone.
Admittedly, I'm probably just drifting out of mainstream gaming, which has been almost a complete bore to me. The best games this gen have been Tomb Raider, Shadows of Mordor, Sunset Overdrive, Witcher 3 and Overwatch. I put more time into Lego City Undercover than any game above. (And the non-Wii U folks get to enjoy that soon. Have fun, it's a great little game).
Halo 5 - Boring
GoW 4 - Boring
Destiny - Boring
Watchdogs, Cod, Battlefield, Fallout 4 - I've just played these games before in better forms. Quantum Break, Arkham Knight, The Division - Just meh.
Granted I haven't played Titanfall 2 or Doom, and I'm not counting things like Rocket League as RL isn't a mass produced, high-budget game.

And I like Nintendo showing off a new IP, but I thought they were moving away from this motion control stuff which I was happy about.
ETA: I just found out you don't have to use the motion controls for Arms. You can play with "traditional" controls. I'm actually more intrigued by it now.

The real question is why can't Nintendo put out anything semi relevant in 2017?
Posted on 1/14/17 at 11:19 am to Devious
Don't be jelly. Just bee happy with the last gen games you can play on your new gen console
Posted on 1/14/17 at 11:20 am to DelU249
I'll just stick with my pc

I'll be playing switch at cool rooftop hipster parties and under an interstate after a fun game of basketball while you're in your jerkoff command center

That's probably fair. Nintendo often tries the "We know better than you approach," or the "You don't know what you don't love yet," approach. Sometimes it works - Splatoon's first promo was great, sometimes it doesn't, ARMs. This is also why they downplay older IPs and games. I think one genuine thing about Nintendo is that they do try NEW things. Not every game company can say that. Honestly, most can't.
But yeah obviously I wanted more Smash news. It makes me think Smash is 2018, which is a DUMB move. Unless they save it for E3 and release it immediately thereafter.

I like the approach of having it as an option, but not requiring it as the main mode of control. I think that's the perfect blend, because there are unique experiences that can be had.

Yup. Although I'd be wary of it standing up without that feature honestly, but it's nice to have the option.

Fox, I'm not sure if you really understand how miserable playing switch at rooftop hipster parties sounds.
Posted on 1/14/17 at 11:39 am to Devious
That's because you're not invited

No it's because I have standards for my life

The commercial is so funny because the places that make switch cool for me are
My bedroom
My living room
My bathroom
The airport
Dont get me wrong that's fricking cool, but the commercial while effectively conveying the switch, is kind of ridiculous
