Ok, so I'm not exactly happy about the Switch, not gonna lie, I might not even get it unless they actually go through with it and discontinue the 3DS (I really don't think they do...)
Who knows, I might end up with it, whatever - BUT -
Dang man, that's rough.
I do think they are making the DS play and eventually it will be more clear that it replaces the 3DS.....as long as it is successful. They just don't want to oveprlay their end and double release items - same thing for no Smash info and ARMS. Mario and Zelda. Etc. They are probably too cautious, which is a normal Nintendo thing.

Nintendo wouldn't be able to make as much money 3rd party - and they would frankly just give up on innovating,
This is true. Nintendo operates how they currently do, and are as creative as they currently are, because they control everything. It's part of their process. Take that away, there's a good chance you take away the magic.

What magic are we really talking about? The most innovative thing they've done with their IP is Mario Maker and they still almost flubbed up the community part of it.

I'm pretty excited. Games at launch are thin but Zelda is a heavy hitter. Everyone who has had their hands on it is raving about the console

"Magic" is kind of a catch all term for the ability for Nintendo to consistently create unique, high quality games that focus on interactivity and fun. But there's also a little something different about Nintendo games. Quirkiness? Innocence? Magic?
Innovative/Unique this gen from Nintendo Specifically- Splatoon, Mario Maker, Wii Party U/Nintendoland, Treasure Tracker, Yoshi's Wolly World, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Tokyo Mirage Sessions - Not a single game like any of these on any other console.
But different strokes, you probably don't like any of those.

Eh, so why post here?
Is it really that fun to just tear down other people's enjoyment of something?

I don't think you're going to change what Nintendo does, nor will you change anyone's opinion in here.

But this just isn't true. If you actually want unique and innovative games, you have to go to indie developers. They took that mantle from Nintendo about 6 years ago. The only game above that could maybe qualify as a true Nintendo market disrupting game in your list is Splatoon but it's not really innovative. (The notion that Tokyo Mirage Sessions is unique is entirely laughable. It's a b-tier SMT game at best)
I can understand the thought process that Nintendo would lose some of their mojo in an environment they didn't control, but there's not much about the environments they're creating that really help in any meaningful way.
I don't want Nintendo to go 3rd party, because I like competition in the industry. I do feel like the market is going to decide that 3 console manufacturers and PC gaming is one too many.

you can't watch porn across 3 monitors in surround sound while playing an mmorpg on switch.

What if Nintendo went strictly portable (not hybrid) and also was 3rd party for Sony and Microsoft? Would that even work?

I didn't mention Indies for that reason. I'm thinking strictly AAA developers. Indies have far more freedom than anyone else to do cool stuff, and it shows. Indie games are extremely creative and innovative, no doubt about that. "Indies" also isn't a single entity, of course there's more diversity if you throw hundreds of developers under a label and compare them to one triple AAA company. That's unfair.
They also have very little impact on the direction of the industry as thy are wholly reliant on technologies/platforms/systems that the market dictates. They dictate almost nothing (outside of an extreme outlier like Minecraft).

Agree to disagree, and that's why I used "innovative/unique" as that line is fuzzy. It's hard to say where that comes from, even if 3D Mario has a very distinct formula: 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy 1/2, while adhering to the basics of that formula, feel like completely different games. Same for OoT, Twilight Princess, and Wind Waker. Whereas, I gave up on Call of Duty years ago because it's the same game over and over again. I thought Halo 5 would be different, but it's the same dang game. There's literally nothing new about those titles. That's not to mention sports games or GTA's/Assassin Creeds/Other Open World Games
(Granted, that's why Shadows of Mordor, RO Tomb Raider and Sunset Overdrive are some of my favorites from the X1. They actually feel different. maybe not innovative, but different and unique)

Mojo is probably a better word than magic for sure. I don't think the hardware itself that's unique or allows them to be unique. It's the control of the process that does. It allows them to gamble, to experiment, to play with ideas wholly unconnected to the game and software itself. That's the important part. For comparison sake from above: Controlling the entire development process and hardware is exactly what leads to the differences between 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy 1/2, I feel Nintendo would fall into the same trap as most 3rd parties where Marios would feel far more like Call of Duties, basically the same game over and over again with better resolution and different textures. That would be a travesty for the industry.

I think as long as Nintendo plays away from the market it probably stays like this. I think if Nintendo HAD gone after a similarly powered system, you'd be right. And the loser in that scenario is probably Nintendo.

Will be going to the bathroom to jack off to Zelda on a regular basis instead of taking a dump.
If I was gonna play a game while taking a dump, it would be Spla2n. If I had diarrhea, I'd just sit on the toilet and imagine my a-hole was a splat blaster and the ink was brown.

Reason I didn't post in this thread with the Fannies. Zelda looks like it will be an awesome title. That is a given. The only issue I hold with it is the washed out look. The stuff gives me a headache just from the trailers. They are doing that because of low res textures, nearly absent texture filtering which leaves the image a blurry mess with colors blending into each other. It is almost like they set the shtt that way because the lack of AA and the low resolution docked being around 900p.
Really need them to stop wasting developmental time on milking cows and invisible ping pong. Put those resources to use in delivering more meaningful new IPs or reboots.
The next issue is the Switch's life cycle. The damn hardware is so old I have my old shield tablet in a box inside our garage. The unit is 2yrs old and this thing is suppose to serve us another 2-3yrs.
Kind of hope they plan to completely move away from the "home console" idea. It will allow for the development of a better mobile product. Along with taking some of the confusion of what the real use case is for the market.
Edt: watch the demos and gameplay videos on your phone then on a TV. They look great within that smaller form factor but damn does it because a mess as you scale above 50". I know some fidelity is lost due to compression. But I bet the issues with image quality will still be there natively.
