Maybe, but I can't understand why it would disappear like that. I had just logged on and it just appeared and it was gone in less than a second.

I assumed the opposite. Walking to me car, I actually saw 2 guys on the other side of the street Friday stop at 2 creatures that spawned. I saw them on my map and they saw the same ones. I actually like it that way.

Pretty sure that yes, everyone sees the same pokemon.

I got a frickin magikarp from one egg and a ponyta from another. Ponyta would've been cool if i didn't already have it.
Have about 5k to go for my 10k egg, hopefully it's something awesome.

Caught a Ponyta, Tangela and had a Starmie spit 5 poke balls then jetted. I've had like 10 run on me at night

How do you guys know the rarity of the different Pokémon? Is that chart posted a few pages back pretty accurate?

It's kinda accurate but not very.
I use a combo of that, plus what I see in game, plus what people post on reddit about to determine rarity
r/pokemongo has a frickton of traffic. Tons of people post what they catch. Can get a good idea of what's rare and what's common.
For instance I've only seen 1 zubat in gamd but I know from reddit they are common. But I hardly ever see anyone post tangela.
My chart said snorlax was ' a myth' but I caught one today.

Something about the color. Green is common, yellow is uncommon, Orange is semi rare and red is rare. But I believe cp will also effect what color ring is showing.
Where you are has different Pokemon. Everywhere I go I see rattata, pidgey, spearow, caterpie, weedle. But I think doduo, the digger one, magikarp, krabby and a few others are common as well.
